<div class="IPBDescription">Got a small problem</div> I installed STEAM earlier today and managed to get it up and running fine, it looks good the idea around it seems fine and cs 1.6 is a lot of fun BUT..... I can't connect to non STEAM servers at all.

Basically I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if so is it even possable to connect to servers that are not STEAM using STEAM if so how because at the moment all my favourite servers are not STEAM lol.

P.S. this is one of the error messages I get when connecting to a non STEAM NS server

error verifying STEAM userID ticket (34)

there isn't a way to connect steam to non-steam, so I have 2 installs. I put all my steam in one folder, and then reinstalled half-life and NS, and viola! problem fixed.

Considering that they're going to be turning off everything but STEAM, no, that actually makes a lot of sense. Why support something you're going to turn off in a month or two?

Yes, all those 'precious' WonIDs are in the ****ter now, gone and flushed shortly.

Would make a lot of sense if the time frame for them shutting everything off and switching over to steam was shorter but the fact is it isn't and I would gather that half the problems they are hearing about would be to do with people not being able to play on their favourite servers once they install steam due to it only working with steam servers.

it really sad becuase the most people i have seen in a single steam server was 14 in a 20 person server

and usually there are only 5 to 8 servers that even have players

    Where are you guys?!?!

HA HA hanging on to the past cat hanging on to the past my friend. To tell you the truth. i downloaded steam once and it gave me so many problems that I had to uninstall steam, reinstall halflife and then reinstall ns to get it back in working order. I hope by the time theyre ready to shut down WON that they have all the awful bugs in steam ironed out or it will just be on big steamed ham that cant connect to a server to save its own code.

Over here in Western Austrlia i havent seen any steam servers..yet. But apparently some ppl are trying to do a work around that steam "thinks" its online so LAN play isnt affected by it. WIll be coming in about 2-3 weeks over here, then ill really start having more errors than you can poke a stick at. I look forward to it, i really do...

iam not sure that steam works with NS, cos steam is made by Valve, and NS is not owned by valve..so yeah

Just like NS doesn't work with Half-life, because as we all know, HL is made by Valve and NS is not owned by valve.

to be honest, with a little tweaking you can get NS working fine with Steam (with exception of the bugged graphics for the right click menu)
My main problem is the lack of servers and that there's only one steam version of the ones I regularly go to (which fills up pretty fast sometimes, even on steam).

once you fix the sprite and max_errordistance spam though it works like a treat ^^
I just use shortcut keys anyway so the rightclick menu is no big loss
