Well, I hate to admit being a fan of Big Brother the show - I watched it over in London a couple nights as we waited for the nightlife to begin, and now I've caught all of BB4 here in the US (big finale Wednesday, BTW). For those scratching their heads, Jade was a pretty famous freak on that show...

    Anyhoo, rebuttals?

America is too easy a target for me to lower myself in to taking pot shots at it, anyway you'd just resort to some teeth gags or something.

Anyway, you shouldn't be watching BB4 - you should be watching The West Wing (Emmy victory - woohoo!)

West Wing is far far inferior to HBO offerings like The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, The Wire, The Corner, or Carnivale. Do you get those in the land of Cromwell?

(We are getting more than a little OT at this point - I meant rebuttal to the real big brother issue you now face, you silly prole).

    Ahhh, that's psycho...

Anyhoo, found this today. Add in mandatory national ID cards as well as license plate monitors, silly Brits. Soon you'll have a camera in your toilet inspecting your johnson.

I believe they were going to be called "Entitlement Cards".

Good idea, it's a "cuddlier" sort of name I think. Almost makes it sound like they're doing us a favour.."Hey, sign up here for your entitlement cards, free basic civil rights with every purchase"

I would go and check my toilet for the hidden cam, but I just cleaned it, looks ok so far..

Meanwhile, AMERICA breaks down civil liberties.

Question for the brits: Do you have crazy lefty moonbats protesting this kind of thing. I hope so.

Imagine: No one in the Uk cares about all of this, but in America people go apecrap when Ashcroft wants to see what Mohammad Al-Kaboomy is checking out the library.

Well Jammer, in the UK most of the population can be broken down into a few distinct camps over issues like these:

    a) Don't know about it / understand the implications.

    b) Actually accept "If you don't have anything to hide, you have nothing to fear" as reasonable arguement.

    c) "Well, if it stops illegal immigration / tax fraud / pollution / world hunger / terrorism / cancer, then it's ok by me...our government wouldn't lie after all...?"

And yes, the "lefty moonbats" are constantly objecting to this kind of thing, unfortunately as they are portrayed in most of the popular media as lefty moonbats, that's exactly how the majority of the public view their concerns.

To further add to the fun, the traditional political representatives of choice for the lefty moonbats are the ones legislating all this...\o/

( Not that I trust the Tories either, I'm old enough to remember their last turn in the comm chair...:/ )
