oooh....

    Back in 1.04, on NS_Nancy...

I was a skulk, and the marines were pushing us hard. We had noname (Mother?) and Port Engine hives, and they had built up in subspace hive. I duck down in one of the corridors leading to the hive and quickly choose my upgrades, carapace and celerity. Then I bombed into the hive. I jumped the turrets and dove for the rines who were there, munching for my life. I kill 6 marines within about 10-15 seconds, then I scurried out of the hive, low on HP/armour and ran to some DCs, and yell over team chat "GET TO SUBSPACE!!!", before heading back and munching on the structures there. We took the hive back and went on to win the game. It was awesome.

What I consider the best time was when I joined a public server.
Cmd asked for a hive recon and I was the only one to leave the base.

checked one hive, bio-dome, empty, moved though the vents to ventalation and hive there.. then I checked tab and found other than the commander I was only marine left.

Commander dropped TF, built it up then he dropped 1 CC and 4 turrets.. me being defense work on the the turrets, getting all to about 90 % then brought all 4 online close together.

got into CC just as the aliens swarmed in.. and the hive died. so I hid out in the CC till all the aliens died of ping of death

it was very scary and enjoyable afterwards

it was satisfiing cus i killed 3 fades 2 lerks and 4 gorges (1.04) while running to a hive without having a chance to reach it.

    lol... skulk eat the cc?

my best moment was as a gorge on bast. i we have 2 hives, one in sewer, one in reactor (i think its called that). there were 3 dcs under the hive (for upgrades) and a movement chamber. there was a movement chamber at reactor hive too. 6 rines came. i spent the next ten minutes shooting marines, healing the chambers and mcing to the other hive to heal. i ended up holding off the marines long enough for some skulks to FINALLY come and help me out, and killed 4 of them. if theyd all just rushed me, i'd have died long ago... then a bunch of heavies came in and the hive went down, we lost the game.

    but i had my moment

not as impressive as the one killing 6 heavies... but i didn't have any ocs to help me :-D

A few days ago, I had a moment that I just knew was what Flayra had in mind when he wrote his design documents about the desired atmosphere of NS. I'm a marine on Tanith, and the game has just started. I was on a good server, and both teams had traded wins that day, so we knew we had to be very agressive.

It's right at the begining of the game, and while people are building the main base, I and a couple others are assigned to get to the reactor room and claim it early. We get to reactor room, and everything is way to quiet. The others either didn't follow me, or moved on to the west hall and cargo, so I somehow ended up alone, waiting for orders. I'm down by the res nodes and I hear a slight sound from above and instantly try to hide while typing for some backup(man I wish I had a mic, I need to get one). Just as I hit enter, I hear another sound and turn just in time to see a skulk and a gorge coming down the short ladder across the room from me. I fire a few shots into the skulk as I dive between one of the reactors and the water to try to escape, hearing the skulk above me dive out of the vents at almost exactly the same time the first one reached me. I somehow manage to finish of the first skulk as it rounds the reactor, but take a bite in the process, and turn around to run since I have to reload, with the gorge trying to spit between the reactors and hitting me once or twice. I manage to finish reloading when the skulk from above gets about half way to me, and I realize that there's no way I can escape, so I might as well make them lose some res.

As I back away and try to dodge I empty my last LMG clip into the hopping spitting gorge, but am not able to finish it off at the range I had. The skulk is at the bottom of the ramp now and I'm halfway up, with the gorge still hopping around the back wall as I switch to pistol. Two more shots finish the gorge moments before the final lunge of death from the skulk. With the first bite plus spit damage, I now have 5 health and about 2 seconds to live. Three super fast bullets go into the skulk as it flies directly for my face, confident in the kill. BAM, the skulk reals back. Backup had arrived; the last pistol bullet had come from the doorway that leads from Marine Start to Reactor Room. I let out a huge sigh, realizing that I hadn't been breathing for the past crazy 10 seconds or so that all this happened in. Desperation, teamwork, the climax, it was all there. So very beautifull. I want to thank Flayra personally, and I plan to join the constellation as soon as I get my next pay check, in large part because of moments like this.

I dragged back to base, got some ammo, went back out to reinforce, and then died shortly afterwards, but that's not what's important. It's the moment when you realize that what just happened could have been in a movie, and would have been cooler than many movies out there. In the end, we held reactor room and went on to eventually win a hard fought game. I never did anything nearly that cool again, but maybe I'll get good enough some day that it wont take complete luck for something like that to happen. You never know.

I have a couple of triumphant moments.

    Most recent one tho.

Playing Eclipse and Im running from Eclipse Command to Computer Core to reinforce the attack thats going on there. Suddenly a lerk pops out infront of me and drops spores before running off. Me being the crazy person that I am, decided to run through the spores and empty my lmg clip in the general direction of the lerk (didnt kill him but thats not the point). Just as I turn the corner into west core access I hear the sound of a skulk finishing its evolution behind me, so instantly whipped out my pistol, turned 180, and fired half a clip into where I thought it was. Nailed him with every shot before dieing because of spores. Had lots of people saying "WTH".

Ironically my most triumphant moment was about half a year ago, when I behaved like the coward of all cowards.

The map was ns_bast, the starting hive was engine room and I was gorging as usual, doing things a gorge would do. I secured the hive with some OCs/DCs, planted another RT and was about to get to the next hive (not feedwater, can?t remember the exact name of it). I was nearly there when all of a sudden the oh so darned "Your hive is under attack!" message popped up and one skulk was shouting over voicecomm "Darn they are sieging our hive!!!"

I ran back as fast as my little fat legs could carry my overweighted body and barely made it to see our hive dieing. I checked the scoreboard and there was only one skulk left, trying to take down the siege. I went up the little hill, thinking frantically about what to do when all of a sudden my teammate shouted "Siege is...", and then he was cut in mid-word. The heavy sound of marines walking towards my location interrupted my thoughts, and I jumped into that little hole at the very end of the wall. Then I heard them even better. Nearer and nearer they came, looking for their price and obviously enjoying their "triumph" by taunting me all the time. One or two of them walked up the hill, and closer and closer they came, still taunting me. Then I could see one of them with his back to me and time seemed to freeze for at least 2 seconds as he was standing there, checking his surroundings. I prepared myself to jump out of the hole and put up a last short fight in case he would see me, which he inevitably had to. Much to my surprise he just sent an "area clear" to his mates, and then they went off again, leaving me alone in that big room.

Knowing that it was a major longshot I re-built the hive, and it was nearly finished when all of a sudden a lone marine popped up again, seeing the hive. Of course he began shooting it, but it was too late! My skulk-mates spawned right in front of him and he was nearly instantly killed, by the way he wrote something along the lines of "HOVE HVIE HIVE HIOVE!!!" after he died. And then we knew what we had to do. We rushed their base and took out their IP?s, CC and their comm. The rest of the game was pretty much a cakewalk because those marines actually didn?t bother securing any rooms.

IT was back in 1.04, I was joining the LGSO server, one that I usually play on. I join the marines and find myself in a startinf marine base, armory, 2 ips, turret and a couple of turrets. I look at the resource, it was like 54, and there was no comm. I ask why we have so much res but no comm. The end result, they had lost the comm chair. It was still the start of the game, the gorge couldn't have built outside of the hive. Well, after about a minute or so, I tell them that the only way we are going to win is by maxing our ammo, marching to engine room and blowing it to hell. SO, the team of 7 (7v6 just FYI) hump the armory to hell. Two cover while the rest hump, we load into the revolving elevator, myself and another guy saying to forget about base, if we don't do this, we lose. We come out, there's the gorge, happily building the RT outside of engine (ns_bast). The entire squad opens fire and the gorge goes down before it even knows we're there. There is the unison reloading and heading towards engine, opening the blast door. Up rush two skulks, on the gorge. The entire team blows them away and proceeds down. Someone closes the door behind us, reminding us that this might be our tomb.

We head down the hall way, shooting the same two skulks that we killed previously. We reach into the room and hear the door open behind us, knowing their entire team is comming. This same guy and I say over voice, 2 cover, the rest shoot the hive. Two of the guys with voice comms say they will and we shoot the hive. A few of us occasionally turn to a freshly spawned skulk to pop it. We lose 4 guys, and the aliens are down to two as we kill the hive. This is the deciding factor, I have no ammo, two only have pistols and one has an LMG with half a clip. If they rushed us correctly, they could destroy us and the aliens win, by pure luck. They rush in, I run distraction since I have a knife. I go down, and the guy with the lmg empties his clip into one, not killing it and he dies. Then the two with pistols target seperate skulks and unload. One dies after the first shot due to the no hive damage, and the other is pistoled down. We hit the RR and everyone says or types "GG!" "THAT WAS COOL!" "GJ rines."

Another is on the new caged in 2.01, marines relocate to double res, and build in. I rush in, runnigna round and chomping despite the 6 turrets. There were five in there, 4 covering while one built the IP. I killed the builder, two nearby and the rest of the team gets the last two while they are shooting at me. They all head towards MS where the comm is, and the rest is history.

i remember once.....it was on ns_eclipse, the aliens decided to gorge rush us......so they kill all of the rines except me(commander) and another rine that was in comp core.......we relocated to comp core...and counterd their gorge rush with our own shottie rush on maint. GG

moral of story- shottie rush > gorge rush

1.04, ns_eclipse, location: between the 2 doors linking eclipse hive and cc, coming from cc with nothing but my knife (all ammo spent) behind second door there were 2 ocs. So there i was thinking what to do when suddenly a fade blinks in and starts swiping at me, me being the generous type myself return the favour. Swipe swipe swipe, fade cant seem to hit me while i carve him up piece by piece, fade got scared and fled towards ec. Not able to follow cos of the 2 ocs i wait and yep fadey comes back. Another fight between sharp objects, fade runs AGAIN! Comm notices me and drops 2 medpacks and leaves me again, still no ammo... fade returns for the third time, gets his butt kicked again and runs for it, me getting tired of the routine valiantly leaps after him over the ocs and getting killed by em

Really a fade running 3 times from a single marine with nothing but a knife (he hit me a total of 3 times i think), it skyrockets your ego, made me think i could do anything! Ocs disagreed

    I. Just. Had. The. Best. NS. Game. Ever.

On ns_Origin the Kharra had pressed us into the small room above double res. We sent a man with JP back to the marine start. He made it, and completely rebuilt our base. And then we respawned and started a Kharra frag-fest. First we sieged Biodome and were feeling pretty good about ourselves. Then three Oni rushed into base. We're screwed right? Hell no. My teammates opened up on Oni #1, and it went down like a sack of wet socks. I emptied my Lvl 3 pistol into the second Onos, killing it. Then I turned my LMG onto the third Onos, and shredded it. Two oni kills in 10 second. PH33R M3.

    Beautiful, no?

Well I was a lerk this one time( ) and our clan sever has super lerklift. So that you can pick up gorges( ) and marines( ). You can pick rines up then drop them into a pit or something. Anyway, so I went out with redemption and picked him. He started shooting as I got ready to drop him. So I redemped back to base. Guess what, i still had him. So I dropped him in a group of like 10 ocs. Felt pretty good as he died. My whole team saw it and was cheering.

Another was when our comm, built 3 turret factorys on top of a hive. Then I jped up there and build em. He electracuted them which slowly killed the hive.

My best game ever was when i commed bast, and i hate that map, relocated to atmo for double res
and fought as hard as we could trying to keep marine start rt, feed hive/rt and the tram rt.... by the time we got lvl1 weapons, they allready started on there 2nd hive... *fastforward* after time and time keepin our res alive they had 3 hives... we pushed with heavies to feed, took that down, pushed out to refinery... took that out... push out to engine, then i heard "Command chair is under attack"... listened closely, and there was 3 onos in base, we were forced to relocate to tram because it was so easy to defend.. setup our new base, got all the res in the area, cept for engine and the rt outside.. then somehow in the matter of minutes they had all 3 hive AGAIN... so we setup sieges in tram tunnel, took out feed, stop all onos from coming in, because they had to crouch both ways to get in/out, so they would just fall... then we pushed to refinery, took that out... (after recapin res of course).. ran to engine, that fell, we celebrated, woot woot gg. then we didnt hear the *ding* *Ding*, aliens were respawing.. then had feed.. i told them to stay there, and let the sieges do there work, it fell, we heard ding ding, and then it stoped... after gathering our stuff we went to refinery, they had 1 onos, 2 fades, and a few gorge and skulk... all high forms fell, and we sieged that last hive with 20+ sieges, and we finish the game with all 10 res... :], i hate that map, and my team half sucked... but we still won it, so many freakin hive... although i think something was wierd how they got all those hives up so quickly without me noticen.. sv_cheats ? or was it me just being overconfident and stupid... i go with the 2nd one p

::EDIT:: Btw, that was my first time commin that map, i hate that map so baaad... and it was my 6th official commin ever... :]

Comm record : 13 games commed - 11 won : woot woot.. dont flame me plz *ducks*

    Old 1.04, on old ns_hera.

Anyways, I join up after talking with meh friends some bit in the RR on [SoM]'s server I do believe. We join up and we're all like "What the hell dude, no IP? Go build one!" And they're all "No way dude CC is gone, we cant."

So ya, screwed right? WRONG! Just so happens we had a good team of team players, well the ones that were living that is. So, meh friend takes charge on his mic and all of a sudden becomes like this totally killer squad leader dude from the movies, right? Like, those guys with six packs and hairy chests, ya dem.

Anyways, he musters up our force of weenie like TSA-Boy scouts and we all march down glass hallway, to hera. We're like, ambushed from, man I would say, jeez, one skulk. And one of our dude dies, sad story, what a nub.

Anyways, now its like four or three or five dudes left (cant remember) and we march to holo, and into processing. Then we're all like, attacked and stuff at processing, but we can fend em off pretty damn good, dey go down like wittol whimpy rats.

Now we march into datacore, and BEWM! Thats their hive, what luck. We shoot it, it goes down, GG.

GG, fun game, still remember it, was like a movie. I swear it was how the "real" TSA operates. They get in, they get out, they dont mess around, right?

    PS:: This really did happen.

The time where I was the onos, the rest of the team had skulks, and we were on hera. We were down to viaduct hive, and had multiple HA trains incoming.

And using a combination of devour and execellent skulk support, we got back on our feet and won.

    Best. Comeback. Ever.

Definatly the other day on ns_veil.

I was commanding, and it was a pretty close battle for resources, at about the 8 minute mark the count was 7v2 I believe, we had most of the map electrified, and armory, mines, and a phase gate in nano (the double node). They had sub sector and cargo hives.

We got to about the 13 minute mark and we were 3/3 with motion researching and equipped a full heavy team. The heavy team marched on cargo and took it down, and it was now 5-1 ish on the node count, with the marines having sub sector hive. I send the heavies to pipe, because at the time they had a few OCs there and a gorge. The majority of the heavy squad is either still in cargo or in nano.

Here's where the drama begins. The aliens rush marine start with everything they have, including at least 6 skulks, a fade and an onos. They wipe out maybe half the base including the phase gate before anyone phases back, and I drop myself a HA HMG and log out. I get maybe 3 skulk kills until I get swarmed. Then, 2 heavies come wandering into base from pipeline (they were the 2 that went and came back to save base). They get a few skulk kills and force the fade to retreat, the onos stays, and as they all went directly to the CC, half of base is still left, 2 heavies, other heavies elsewhere going "WTH mate?" and a CC with maybe 1 red bar left (it was close).

The onos keeps them from building an IP for maybe a minute and they are forced to regroup, get a bit of weld on the CC and reload. How convienent is it for motion tracking to finish researching at this point? The rest of my team which is still wandering around changes there expressions from "WTH mate?" to "OHH GOD THERE ARE LIKE 20,000 BLIPS GOING TO MARINE START". So the 2 heavies at marine start get swarmed and base dies. There are maybe 5 heavies left now, and just around the time that the CC dies 2 more die and we're down to 3 heavies, the aliens have some res, an onos, and cargo hive has just began going up. GG.

It would have been GG, but we had an armory left in nano and those 3 heavies. 2 shotties, 1 HMG, all welders, still have 3/3 upgrades but no motion. They regroup in nano, and march on sub sector with little resistance (note this is a 7v7 environment). The aliens were expecting them to go to the currently building cargo hive. So they take down sub sector only encountering maybe 6 skulks or so, and gun that down. As they regroup in nano, the cargo hive still hasn't completed yet. As they go to cargo the encounter maybe half of the alien team including an onos and fade. The onos doesn't even have devour at this point, but maybe 20 seconds after they arrive it goes up and skulks start spawning. Somehow, they managed to scare off the onos and kill the hive. There was a lone gorge left somewhere, but the tick of death got him.

There you have it, the greatest game of NS I've ever played, and I only played half of it This just proves that teamwork > DM skill, I know the 3 marines that did this and they weren't great shots but they kept each other welded and didn't split up, knew when and where to group up etc.

Me, lousy little marine, running to Overlook to defend an electrified rt. Just spawned, fresh looking and hump-free (50 spare LMG ammo), I head down from west skylight and am about to enter Overlook and open fire on the damaged OC.

But I get interecepted by a skulk charging me. Having some distance between me and it, I open fire and down it with about 25 bullets. "Phew", I say to myself as I turn around the corner, just to go "AAAAAAAH!" at the fade right in front of me.

Thinking "Oh well, I'm dead", I decide to quickly empty my 25 remaining LMG bullets into the fade. Imagine my surprise when the fade falls dead with my ammo-meter still on 10 ... But it's not over yet! A lerk flaps down on me, spiking, as the fade hit the floor, and I go all "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" again. Ammo counter 0. Reload those 50 bullets or pistol? I won't have time for reload, I decide, and fire four or five pistol bullets into the lerk ... And it goes crashing into the ground.

Now I have 10hp, 5 pistol bullets in my magasine, and turn around to see an egg evolving. And I go all "AAAAAAAAAAH!" again, thinking that it must be almost completely evolved by now. So I empty my pistol magasine ... And the egg dies before I've gotten all five bullets out of my pistol.

    Then the OC got me.

The aliens had to be very damaged, but it must have looked quite cool from a spectators view. I was darned proud of myself anyway, luck or not. The thing i enjoy the most is when some lerks spore you couple times and then fly away only to come back bit sooner. Oh wait i dont enjoy that, but i do enjoy when i can be the pain in the @ss for them with a JP + SG, its always so much amusing to catch them and shoot them down in mid air,

Also when ever i'v seen an egg somewhere, i have ignored totally any other alien and ninja'd the egg down without thinking about how lethal it might be for me,

Most triumphant would definently be seeing MonsE eat himself.

Seriously though, it was Devouring my first marine. I just felt so great inside!

That among other things, like mining up hives =)

    *revives thread*

I was commanding on ns_nothing in a small public game (4vs4) and, well... we were practically beaten. Most of the alien team were onos, and the only thing we could do was a quick relocate. I frantically searched on my little map for Cargo, found it and actually managed to recycle most of our resources and build a new CC there before my old one was destroyed. So there I stood, being armed with an un-upgraded LMG staring at the angry face of a giant space cow. Realizing that our IPs were destroyed, I did the probably most cowardly thing during this damned round. I just turned around and hightailed the hell out of there, making my way to the room with the little bridge. At this point I stopped for a moment and looked back, only to see that the onos was persuing me. My jaw dropped, and the next thing I knew was that I was running for my life, down the stairs and up the ladder, trying to make my way to the elevator leading to Power-Silo. I could allready see it, it was 10 meters away, then 5, 3... and then i realized something that made me groan in agony. The elevator was on the upper floor, meaning that I could not get anywhere. I looked back but didn´t see the onos, so I made a quick decision. I pushed the button and waited for the elevator to make enough room so that I could continue my hell-bent quest. I looked back at the corridor...

    at the elevator...

    at the corridor...

    at the elevator...

    at the corridor...

    at the elevator...

at the corridor, only to see that giant bulk of meat running towards me. I knew that I did not have much time left, so I jumped down the elevator shaft with the onos following me. I spent the next 5 seconds trying not to be devoured or gored, until the second onos jumped on top of my head, but at this point I was able to exit the elevator and make a break for it. So now I had 2 onos persuing me through the map. I safely made it to power silo, jumped over someone´s WOL and survived with about 30 health left. The 2 onos had some trouble though so I was able to escape... at least for a while.

Finally I made it to Viaduct where 1 OC awaited me. With my low health I basically only had one option: I pulled out my LMG and carefully sneaked around the corner so that I could shoot it without it seeing me. I got it down to 1/2 of it´s health, and quickly checked the hallway, no onos yet. I proceeded to shoot it down, ran out of LMG ammo and switched to my pistol. The chamber only had about 1/6 health left when I suddenly heard the nasty chuckle of an alien. I turned around, saw the onos and made a break for it. I quickly reloaded my pistol, strafed around the corner and shot down the OC, then ran through Viaduct with 2 onos wanting to track me down, trying to stomp and devour me. I ran down the next hallway without looking back, opened the door and closed it just in time, then I heard the familiar *squish* *squish* of a fatteh coming my way. Knowing that it was a major longshot I crawled in one of the vents, then the door opened and the 2 onos seemed to stare at the gorge, probably thinking "WTH just happened?" They were either not really smart of brand-new to the game, instead of checking the vents they just jumped over the gorge and continued searching me.

I probably spent the next minute inside the vent, not knowing if I should laugh, be reliefed or if I should just surrender. But I decided to battle on. Using my lurking skills I actually made it to Cargo, and there was my CC, untouched and ready to be built. I forgot everything around me, the CC was like my personal, chrome christmas tree! I made a run for it, ignored the OC in the corner and nearly made it. I could allready feel the metal under my fingers when all of a sudden I heard the sound of an onos goring a marine. At least it was quick, a clean horn penetrated my torso and then it was over.

    GG Nightdemon and Lurker!
