Regarding CD-Key
Uh, why didn't Half-Life+everything else request a CD Key after installing the big 700+meg steam installer?
No, Steam is utterly senseless (hafhaf). What it CAN do however (this is not something I know, but something that appears plausible and likely, techgurus!) is read your CD-key out of your registry if you already had Half-Life installed when you installed Steam.
Thats whats odd. I've uninstalled Half-Life, then i removed the entire "Sierra" folder it has... then I installed the 723~ meg Steam installer... I can play online, without ever submitting a key. It feels like Piracy.....arrrrrrrrr.

The key is in the registry. If you would like to change it for some reason, you would have to remove the key separately from the registry. So no, it's not piracy
And I can't see why people are whining so much about Steam. For me it worked out just fine. Only problem is the amount of space it requires, concidering my hd is always full, it's pretty b**chy but that's just a matter of re-arranging.
CWAG did you go into your registary and remove the HL key? I'm not sure that HL removes the CD key when you uninstall it. I think that's what he's asking about guys, so if Steam does allow you to registar without having a key in the registary it could be a bit dodge.
No, I belive that it does retain the key. Thanks
