Voxel Demo

Download, run one of the bat files. Enjoy.
Puts the Geomod engine to shame.
Basically a Voxel is a method of creating 3D stuff, that predates polygons. It was meant to be the next big thing, but it never really took off.... But yeah, this thing is pretty cool.
I guess the 'aim' of the 'game' is to find the red upgrade thingy (Which then turns your gun into a cannon...)

HL 2 better include soda pop-machines <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
<a href='http://www.vitalimages.com' target='_blank'>Vital Images</a> does work with voxels to make 3D images from CT and MRI scans. Here's an example:

As you can see, the detail they require just can't be done with polygons.

Yep, the pre-release screens included niiiice and transparent explosions. The real version had voxel ones... Urg.
The horror! Ruuuuun! <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
Edit: Just read through the website. One of the creators was Ken Silverman. He created the basis for the Duke Nukem 3D engine. Some interesting reading on his main page for all you nerds like me!
It'd be cool if there were at least physics (ie disconnected pieces falling & crashing)
bah nvm i was under the impression that the blaster was hidden inside the rocks lol
They do most of the time. It looks like its a rounding error bug. I've been able to seperate of huge pieces before and see them fall
Oddly addictive for a tech demo.
Anyone remember Ken's Labyrinth?
