How To Retrieve Hl Cd Key?

<div class="IPBDescription">how?</div> i wanna install the new steam... but I need my won id first but I can't find my hl cd case so how do i find it via regedit... i tried but it's not there? Somebody gimme instructions plz!
EDIT: I have the steam beta installed btw... does that take away the ability to see my CD Key and will uninstalling STEAM remedy that?

I don't know if you can. It's been asked a few times before. These topics have a tendency of getting themselves locked (or maybe that's just the PHL forums)

Use regedit.

Find HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Half-Life\Settings\Key.

There it is!

I don't have the "settings" folder...

If you don't have Settings, your in HKEY_Local_Machine instead of Hkey_Current_User

When you install Steam it will find your previously used cd-key automatically. And once you have created a Steam ID you don't have to put it in again if you reinstall.
