Road Rage?

I guess its close...
Alright, here's the story.

This part is the driver's story:

One of our company's drivers was driving one of our trucks, then he made a brief stop in front of my parents' building to unload some stuff. Then all of a sudden, the guy behind him purposely placed his vehicle alongside our truck and exchanged some harsh words. Then it got a little physical, but it wasn't much. After that, the driver then parked the truck in front of my parent's building.

This part is the one I was in:

Apparently, the guy wanted to get revenged because he got embarassed in front of his friends. As I was going downstairs, I heard someone knocking at the glass door very heavily, as if almost breaking it. I first took a good look at him, 'cause I thought he was probably one of the new drivers. Then I asked him what he was doing, he yelled at me "open this door!". Disturbed and a little nervous, I asked him, "what's your problem?" He shouted, "where's that guy in the blue shirt?!" I had no idea what he was talking about, so I refused to open the door. He then demanded to see the owner of the building (my parents), who happened to be in a week long vacation in Singapore. I told him that the owners aren't here right now. He probably thought I was lying so he want back to his car and took his baseball bat (to be honest I was relieved it was a baseball bat, too many people here have guns its not funny).

He then took a swing at my car's rear quarter panel, at this point it was getting personal. It wasn't an expensive car, it was just my daily driver, but I promised my kid brother that I will give it to him as his birthday present this September 27. I was forced to unlock the door to get outside (duh) and then I walked towards him and told him, "drop the bat now!". He then took a swing at the tailights, so I figured I have to stop him now before this gets any worse. I walked closer to him, he took a swing, he missed, I gave him a quick punch to the gut, and grabbed the bat. Knowing our local government, a baseball bat is labelled as a deadly weapon, I quickly threw it as far as I could so it could no longer do harm to either of us. I then focused on this mongrel, I punched him silly until the bystanders got me off him. I got off with ZERO charges. But the other guy has to pay for the damages, and he has to do hours and hours of community service. I'd say he got it easy, if it were up to me, he'd be locked up for 2 years at least!

I think I fought well for a guy that hasn't been in a fight since 5th grade!

They're all busy clustering outside the White House waiting for the president to try a scooter or something, then they hope that he falls of and sell the video for $50 to news channels.

Nicely done. I hate such ****. And yeah, if someone would start ravaging my car... I'm not a physical type but... I think I could break some bones with my 176 pounds (and I'm not all just fat).

Well it's stupid how he didn't get thrown into jail, he should have gotten a year at least. Nice fighting though

If someone started beating my car...The poor bastage would be hurting (I wear 250ish and I can deliver a nasty kick to the gut)

on a pointless side note: Why didn't you call the cops first?

Heh, just pray some bleeding hearts don't give him a large sum of money if he sues you.

It may sound dumb, but burglars who have gotten locked in peoples houses have sued the insurance companies and won big sums before :-\

Anyways, glad to hear that jerk got what he deserved.

If someone were beating on my old car (Ford Tarus) I'd probably grab a bat and help them along...

If however somebody were hurting my new baby (Grand Am) they'd be going to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds...

I'd love to quote John Travolta from Pulp Fiction about this very topic but I can't really remember the words, and also I'm sure some of it is inappropriate here...

p.s. I'm all talk... In reality I'd be inside cowering for my life, then I'd call the police. Then I'd probably crawl up into a fetal position in the corner and cry till it all goes away.

    Smokenova,

The cops wouldn't come in time, I figured that by the time they got there he would already be gone

That brave huh? I don't even think I could call the police. I'd look like a deer in headlights.

That's why they have these miracle things called camera's, license plates and police with guns. Take a couple photo's of him hitting the car, a couple to get his license plate, then call the cops.
  • homerxhomerx Join Date: 2003-04-01 Member: 15094Members
Come to think of it, I had a camera in my pocket the whole time (my Nokia 7650 has a camera heehee), but I was nervous and it was hard to think rationally at the time.

Plus, to get a glimpse of his license plate I would have to walk past him, by then he would have swung at my head.

As for the driver, haha moron.

As for your car, dont worry, just heal spray it a little bit, or if your friendly neighborhood gorge is nowhere to be found just whip out that handy dandy welder and repair away

Same **** just happened to me and my buddy on Monday.
    (a little different)

We were driving down a main street and we were in my buddys Mustang GT(nothing too nice but its all hes got) We were in the right lane of this 3 lane main road and there is a highway on-ramp off of this lane up ahead.
Trafic was pritty busy and this guy was in the far left lane. He pulled a stupid move and cut across 2 lanes to get over and side swiped right into my buddys Mustang. We freaked and stopped and when this guy realized he had hit us he sped up and got on the highway. My buddy was a bit confused as to what had happened and was just sitting there.
    I yelled
"THAT MOTHER F&^$ER JUST HIT YOU, CHASE HIM!!!"

My buddy sped up and started to chase this hit and runner, the runner was driving this 1970ish Honda Accord and we didn't get much of a better look till we caught up to him on the highway. My buddy is driving a mustang GT.... do you really think your going to be able to out run it in an old accord...? We talegated this runner and high beamed him and honked at him to pull over. I got his plate number incase he got away and a got discription of the car.

He wouldn't pull over and both of us were yelling out the window as this jerk tryed to get speed away. My buddy pulled up beside him to prevent him from leaving the far right lane. the guy slowed down as I yelled at him and my buddy got in front of him and forced him off the road. He pulled over and we pulled over infront of him. Right away this SOB gets out of his car and starts yelling at us
"WTH are you F-ing Doing, who the fu^% do you think you are...."

I am not a very big guy but I work out alot and can hold my own, my buddy on the other hand Plays AAA Hockey and is about 270 lbs, 6'5 and is just an all around big F-ing guy. We get out of the car and I called the police with my phone as my buddy and this guy start to get into a **** match.
My buddy is yelling at this guy and the guy is yelling back.

I told the police what had happened and where we were and they were sending a cop to our location. I yell
"Your F&^%ed no As$ho#@ I called the cops and they are coming!"

The guy turns around and goes to get back into his car. My buddy runs him down and forces him to the ground. This guy was freaking out, screaming and yelling and throwing punches at my buddy. My buddy give the guy a quick jab to the face and then held him pinned to the ground with 1 arm behind his back. Thank god the cop showed up a second later and cuffed the guy. We got his information and everything else we needed and it turns out this hit and runner was driving with a suspended licence. Thats why he took off.

We didn't get charged but the cop was not happy that we chased this guy down, he told us not to do crazy crap like that because you never know what these guys might have in the glovebox. He had a good point.

    It was pretty freaking crazy!
  • HawkeyeHawkeye Join Date: 2002-10-31 Member: 1855Members
Well, it was good what you did under the circumstances, but as a general rule, the best you should do is get their license plate number and back off. Supposing he had a gun and didn't want to be caught by the cops, I think he would have used it. Best scenario would have been to catch his license number and then go about your business. Insurance company pays for stuff like that anyway.
  • homerxhomerx Join Date: 2003-04-01 Member: 15094Members
    Ah yes.

If you have the presence of mind, that would be the best thing to do.

But sometimes anger gets the better of you, and you wouldn't know what happened until you open your eyes and all of a sudden your hands are covered in blood.

But then again, how can you chase someone who isn't running?
