    It's just a shame that that awesome purple hallway isn't listed in here, but these other pictures are definitely up to that level of quality. Looking very nice -- I like how the color is more varied than the norm for NS maps. Now get my face in there, punk.

    On the last actual picture (the one before coil shows up), below the yellow light on the right, the texture appears to have a very obvious line across it. Is that actually a texture alignment or is there a ledge there that I can't make out from the picture?

    To be honest, it's really hard to pick apart a map from the pictures. Things that I'd look for like overall in game lighting, contrast, transitions between areas, etc, can't really be seen from screenshots. So I don't think you're going to get more than variations on "wow, cool map" until you release. Then you'll start to hear "Why didn't you fix X/Y/Z texture/light/ladder/hallway/vent/etc"

    (And no, that's not a push for you to get the map out faster.... well ok... maybe just a little bit <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo--> )

    So far, the people that have been playtesting my map like the realism of it and whatnot, but bleh.     Kewl Zazi~ I really like how you managed to use so many light colours and how well they fit together.

    This isn't meant as a flame, and this is my first time seeing this map, but do you have anything but hallways in the map?

    It looks nice, and I like both your brushwork and combination of textures, but all I see are hallways. Nothing there to really excite me. Nothing there I can't wait to see how it looks in-game. Just...hallways with nice subtle changes in architecture.

    The hallways are nicely mapped out and everything, but it doesn't offer any surprises in any way.

    Well? What do you see? How would you describe it?


    As I see it, it's pretty hard to say anything but "oh, looks like some sort of a spaceship or something", because the images offers nothing but a generic well-known look of just that. It's a lot of hallways, a few rooms and a few data-processing machines on the walls. But the look of the map doesn't tell a story, and it isn't spurting my imagination.

    And don't tell me that there's a <i>written</i> storyline to back up the map, because storylines shouldn't just be told, they should be <b>shown</b>. In the map.

    Just an aesthetics thing. Perhaps you should increase the gamme ramp to 'overbrighten' the lighting, and give your map more contrast. I think it would make it look even better.

    But, joking aside, I'd personally say that widowtest0047.jpg, obsb4_20001.jpg, fluidcont0001.jpg, fluidcont0004.jpg, fluidcont0000.jpg, sectfour0004.jpg, and sectfour0002.jpg are rooms. Though I will concede the view we get of those rooms isn't remarkable from the pictures, and yes, I know that half of those pictures I listed are for the same two rooms.I would imagine there are more rooms (as we haven't seen hive rooms or anything in the pictures - or at least not that I could distinguish).

    Zazi, is there any chance you could update the map page with - or post here - some pictures of some of the rooms from a vantage point that displays most of the room? Might help give us all a better idea of the atmosphere of the map.

    Anyway, I could take other shots, but the fact of the matter is that I'm just too lazy. No matter, Widow's release date is gonna be within a few weeks, given the fact that I can reduce rspeeds in an ample amount of time.

    Ubehagelig is an advisor, and a damn good one too. Zazi, you really should listent to his advises because he <u>knows</u> what the players want's in a map and how to obtain it. I now speak as the mapper, not the friend doing PR for him.
