Steam Error

I tried installing steam but i keep getting the same error on startup.

Downloaded the 500~ kb install and the 350 one, tried em both.
I even formatted but that didn't work either.

    Got a firewall? Read up in the <a href='http://www.steampowered.com/faqs' target='_blank'>Steam FAQ</a> about which ports to open. I kept getting the exact same problem until I <s>slapped myself on the forehead and</s> remembered to configure my router to forward the stuff properly.

    Yeh i got em but putting them all off didnt help.
    Forwarding the ports didn't help either.

    Nevermind, i just spammed the steam icon and it connected <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Check your ISP provider to see if they have maintenance (I know RR does this sometimes though not often). You could also try tomorrow to see if it works after a restart of your hardware.
