Since steam public, it has caused gigantic mayhem on the HL community, I bet every forum is full of OMG I can't get steam to work.
As for me Steam screawed me cause I can't even install it cause it says its missing a file.
The HL community as we know it will cease to exist....Oh well atleast we have Doom3 to depend on and other upcoming releases
Give it a couple of weeks and maybe it will get better. Until then.......Long live WON. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
Edit: I can't spell...
What....Steam has been in beta2 stage for ages, and it wa mainly for broadbanders now their ruplic release, well they just kicked us HL community guys right in the teeth...
You support something and out of no where they make a HUGE change without consulting the fans...

possibly you've heard of thegame Star Wars Galaxies, one of the most successful MMORPG's of all computer game history?
it was in beta for years, and on opening day people coudlent even register their creidt card accounts.
your point?
lololololol. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
I was aware it was being beta tested but I was under the assumption it wasn't that long. I have tried to look up the webpage to get more info about it but it was down at the time. I'm sure you've ran into the same problem.
One thing I can say is that valve is a corporation, and corporations don't ask their customers what they think is right/wrong (although maybe they should). Perhaps in the short term steam is bad for the HL community but in the long run it will be helpful and valve like any other corp. must look at long term benefits? Correct me if I'm wrong here. But hasn't it been proven that by having steam it will account for smaller patches, less download time, and overall more efficiency once everything is up to date? Thx. for any input.

Just because another game was full of bugs, doesnt mean its ok for steam to be full of bugs
