Really. Probably. Hopefully.
O.k, yes, this is the third time i've made a post like this, but I need your advice again, and this forum is a big collection of gamers, with a good number of computer experts thrown in, so it's the ideal place for me to post my graphics card queries.

It has come down to it.

2 graphics cards.

Radeon 9500 pro, and Radeon 9700 pro. Right now there is only £30 difference, but they're on ebay, so that could change. The bidding stops in under 2 hours. So which should I get? Is the 9700 better enougth to warrant the extra £30? I heard the 9500 can be overclocked, but would it be better to just get to 9700?

Currently the 9500 is at £156 and the 9700 at £186. That's about $200/$230.

So which one should I get? Oh and, NO I CANT WAIT TIL NOVEMBER WHEN THE PRICES ARE GOING DOWN

Once I've made the big purchase feel free to do with this post as ye see fit mighty admins, but please don't lock it yet.

Thank you.

Lump in for the 9700 Pro (it's a Sapphire, IIRC?). The 9500 Pro is just a 9700 that failed the speed testing.. so you'll never get 'real' 9700 speed, even overclocking it.

The 9700 Pro was their top-of-the-line though. It can be pushed even higher, in some instances which vary from card to card. And if it's only $30 extra, KICK IN NOW. You'll be thanking yourself later that you put in such a minimal investment for a LARGE return. (About 30-45% faster than the 9500, in a number of games)

Hell, I'd be tempted to swap you my 9500 Pro and thirty bucks, if you got the 9700 Pro. :b

    Thank you Talesin

And finally, will my 1.5 processor be able to handle it? (384mb ram)

    And yes, it's Sapphire.

*edit* Uh oh, not sure if the 9700 comes with the power connecter thingy and drivers. Well the drivers shouldn't be a problem and hopefully I can get a cable off my uncle but still.... *edit*

ARGH! NOOOOO! WHY MUST YOU DO THIS TO ME EBAY! WHYYYYY???

I didn't get it. There was obviously someone else doing exactly what I was; waiting til the last moment to bid. I made a bid, which was then immediatly outbid, and I waited too late to make another bid.

I could have bid on the 9500, but I decided to go for a 9700 again... possibly a bad choice.

There's another 9700 pro going in 3 days.

    Wish me luck :/

*edit* Oh, and another going in 1 day but it isn't Sapphire, it's Cruicial, are Crucial any good?
