Jk Ii

<div class="IPBDescription">Help needed</div> Hey all,

I just got JK II and started playing it and it looks pretty sweet. However, I am getting really annoyed at the aimer. It doesnt stay in the middle of the screen, and it autoaims just like the HL aimer does when auto aim is on.

This really screws up my aiming, as it autoshifts closer to the target when my crosshair gets closer to it. Now if I have to move the crosshair to the left where the target is, and the target is 1cm to the left, I only have to move it about .75cm before the damn thing moves itself. This of course leaves me constantly overshooting when tracking.

And I cant find an option ingame to turn this infernal thing off. So I went searching on the net and it seems that I am alone in this problem.

Anyone here has jk2 and knows how to turn it off? I would really appreciate any help.

Thanking you in advance.

Is JK2 the Jedi Academy? If so, at least I didn't have any problems like that when I tried the demo. You just have to check all the options through.

    I'm not helping, am I? <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Edit: One thing just popped in to my mind. Maybe it's something automatically activated when you are playing on the easiest? I don't know if you are playing it on the easiest difficulty level though <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

No its the original - Jedi Outcast.

No ur not helping, save for that last bit <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->. I was playing on normal, I will try hardest and see if that helps

I have hunted through those options for over 15 minutes, closely scrutinising every option, I will be SHOCKED if the option to turn autoaim off is in the JK2 options menu

Why are you using a blaster?

Once you get the lightsaber...you become D347H Incarnate.

Bah, silly Marine, using a blaster in Outcast.

btw, just use the E-11 on secondary and you won't have to aim.

Right, lets just clarify that JEDI OUTCAST is NOT the original.

The original is Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight. If you're playing Jedi Knight, then you can't turn off autoaim as far as I know..... other than keeping faaar away from your opponent so the autoaim doesnt kick in.

As for Jedi Outcast, it doesn't have an autoaim.

Yeah Sorry Marine, Outcast is the second part and Academy is third or so.

But I don't still remember any autoaim in Outcast even though I played the game through :/

Btw, plain <b>Outcast</b> game is good. I want Outcast 2 now.

    Yes, I did have the need to de-rail <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Actually, the origional would be Dark Forces.

    Dark Forces
    Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II
    Jedi Knight II: Outcast
    Jedi Knight III: Jedi Academy

I would have loved it if they had called JK:JA
    Jedi Outcast II: Jedi Academy.
It would have fit their naming scheme better.

Back to the topic at hand:

As far as I know, the autoaim is permanent and can't be turned off.

Solution: Play faster to the next few levels and go get a lightsaber. :D

Thats for Dark Forces, yeah, but he's talking about a JK game. Which rules out DF, since it doesn't mention JK at all.

And its JK II: JO, not just O, if we're going to get to technicalities.

I still don't know what this auto aim is supposed to be - the only moving the sight does is the normal stuff....... at most it goes odd when you shove your nose into a wall, but then so do all Q3 games. Thats a moving crosshair but its nothing to do with autoaiming.

    If it's JK2... yeah, I don't remember no autoaim.

I'd say just get used to underaiming.

    ...

    My answer is correct.

    Here's the anthology:

    - Dark Forces
    - Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight
    - (Dark Forces 3): Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast << This is the one we're talking about
    - (Dark Forces 4): (Jedi Knight 3): Jedi Outcast 2: Jedi Academy

    confusing, isn't it?

DARK FORCES 5: JEDI KNIGHT 4: JEDI OUTCAST 3: JEDI ACADAMY 2: JEDI ADVANCED ACADAMY

Hmm...all of these answers and I may well be the first to answer the original question.

In the options menu, there is a yes/no option for "identify target." Pro: helps you know whether you're aiming at a friendly, enemy, or neutral target/object by changing the crosshair color. Con: autoaim comes with it.

And yes, the order they were released is:
    Dark Forces
    Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2
Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith (expansion pack to the above)
    Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast
Jedi Academy (Jedi Knight 3; not sure which order the two parts of the title will be in, but you get the idea)
[edit]And I'm proud to own them all, of course[/edit]

However, Mysteries of the Sith's place in the true timeline of events (vs. game release timeline) is arguable for several reasons:
    1. Kyle has Mara Jade as an apprentice, indicating it takes place after Jedi Outcast.
    2. Mara Jade is Kyle's <i>only</i> apprentice, indicating that it takes place after Jedi Academy because there is no longer as great a shortage of Jedi Masters in the academy (Kyle has to train at least two apprentices at once in the Jedi Academy game due to the shortage)
    3. Kyle is getting grey hairs in his beard.

Yeah but my point is the first "JEDI KNIGHT" game is not Dark Forces.

It'd be like calling Crash Bandicoot 1 the first Crash Bandicoot Racing game. They've partially the same name and characters, but are otherwise unnconnected.

Yo, that is NOT autoaim. I repeat, it is NOT! The crosshair does not hover in the middle of the screen; it moves to where the blaster is aimed. For example, move up to a ledge and look down. You will see the crosshair rapidly move when you make the transition from the long drop to the ledge; this is because it is showing you where the blaster is aiming. So when you aim near a person, your character is actually pointing the blaster at a spot behind them most of the time, and since the shot from the blaster is going to hit them if you shoot behind them, the crosshair will compensate and move to the person.

    Or, short version: It's not autoaim, stop whining <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Alright then - thanks for the help all.

I tried turning it off Marik, but it still autoaims for me.
