Killing Early Elec Rts

the non-oc way!
I haven't read anything to this effect, and doing a seach ended up with nothing... so here it is... get a gorg to heal you! I know It's simple, I know I should've realized this before, but jeez! I saw it being done for the first time in a game today. It happened by accident, when we were attacking south loop... The com elec it in the middle of it being chopmed, and the gorg was healspray/building an oc to hold south loop nearby... neways what happened is that the skulks finished it off cause they were being healed...

It seems so simple now... grab some skulks and a gorg (or 2) and chomp away why they spray! 1 gorg can keep you guys alive for a looong time, 2 can keep you at full life. Especially useful when the elec upgrade finishes in the middle of your chomping and the rt's half dead.

I dunno, seems so obvious to me now...

If its the midgame, you can also bile bomb; or fade + regain them to death.

but yea, you found the best early game way to stop Elect rt's

though, droping oc's has its advantages too. once the RT is down , a gorge can drop a RT- then you have a guarded RT. Somewhat pays for itself in some cercumstances.

2 gorges + skulks = marines can't defend RT. Try to form a gorge gang with a skilled skulk once you spot elec RTs.

I dont see why you need 3 gorges.. but yea that works. 2 gorges are sufficiant.

Plop down an OC next to a full-health RT. It will take 5:31 secs (give or take) to kill it. So, the OC method is like saying "Comm, you're gonna lose this in a few minutes, enjoy the free res and recycle when it gets dangerous"

    Get skulks to bite it.

5 minutes and 31 seconds? geez.. with 1 oc?
so.. 2 oc.. would take 3 minutes..
    4 would take.. get calculator...
80 seconds.. and 6 would take less...

meh.. how about dropping a DC and then morph skulk??

I'd say that's the best alternative if you're on a public and can't get the gorges to heal you.

5 and a half minutes of res is entirely too much to let the marines have. They get at least 10 res per minute (1 res per 6 second tick, often more) per rt. If you want to drop an OC or two to keep around and protect your own rt when you put it up, fine, but you're still going to put more firepower into removing the marine rt.

Also keep in mind that OCs are stupid, and while they are busy shooting at the rt they won't notice the marines killing you unless the marines actually hit the OC.

exactly, or even worse the rine kills the 1 oc, its almost as easy as killing a single turret with skulk and 3x cara

Usually when I play on pubs, I know that the aliens aren't working together when I see the marines with 5 resource towers or more. All that is needed is four skulks without a gorge, all attack the tower and retreat when critically injured - add a gorge and no need for retreat at all. The problem is that there simply isn't enough teamwork on pub games for this to happen.

I can't speak for all the marine commanders out there but if I could tie up 3 or 4 alien creatures I'd be happy happy. Thats 3 or 4 aliens that won't be preventing me from grabbing more 4 nodes while you take out that 1.

Now say you have a 8 man alien team which is pretty normal for a pub game. Now you only have 4 aliens out fighting against 7 marines. As a comm I'll take that action any day! Its well worth the 30 res (depending on version) right there.

Face it, the best strategy for killing electric nodes is to prevent them from building the nodes in the first place, after that you pretty much have to have a 2nd hive or an onos or fade.

so lets waste 60 res taking out a single rt.... versus putting up a hive and some defense??

Well, gorge->DC->skulk costs 22 if you have to first go to gorge.

Though at that point you have a lone DC that will get killed easily. Better to have a fade that can pick off multiple electrified RTs, or a gorge to help the skulk in healling or build supporting mini-bases.

Exactly...I build 1 OC and move on... to RC the next node... then come back and build a RC.
