Anyhow, rant aside, I think the problem is that the other mdls aren't smartgun enabled.
There are special animations for the smartgun that are required so the other models hold them properly.
If you check the big release thread that is webbed at the top of the page it should link to some Smartgun compatible models, failing that use the Search function (top right, between Help and Members) to dig up the relevant topics.

Problem is there's a different skeleton. IMHO, you just want to open up the HMG anims in wordpad and C&P everything referring to the upper body (because the lower AvP body lacks the terminal bone on each leg). That way you keep the essence of the standard LA LMG but can incorporate the smartgun.
Like I say, I would do it for you, but in my help request I've got half a dozen people telling me how easy it is to use mdldec, yet they wont send me the files I need.
