i lag when i see large groups...
ok, for some reason i lag really really bad when i see large groups of enemies. i havent played on marines once after 2.0 ( want to get good with kharaa) but when i enter a marine base ( with buildings and such, and soldiers) my ping suddenly goes up to like 300 or 400. i assume its my fps going way way down? but it seems like im getting less frames per second, like its not updating as much... i have cable and its really fast. comp is like 799 mhz... can somebody send me their config that doesnt get this problem? if i use yoru config and the problem is still there ill know its my computer. im positive its not my connection. so, replies on how to fix this woudl be appreciated.

give us ALL the info from that
and FPS does NOT effect latency

but it sure as hell effects ping
I don't think it causes much lag though(defined as periods of recieving no packets occuring at random intervalls leaving you with brief periods of 'unplayabillity')
latency refers to network latency (ie how long it takes a paket to make its trip thus why it is measured in miliseconds, so 1K ping = 1 FULL second for a pkt to make a trip, not to spiffy)
so, if your fps is 1 your ping can still be 20
they are not related. The only way FPS can belinked to hardware is if your wiring is done improperly or if your modem has borked (hehe, 100 ft of spooled cat 5 in a basment will play hell with your connection )
I am not asking for help any where in this thread
