Gas Prices

And the effect of lowering them
Wow man.. at 2:30pm (pacific) I lowered the prices on 2 of our gas stations from
2.09 (87)
2.19 (89)
2.29(91) (California Los Angeles 90032 zip to be exact) to
1.99(87)
2.09(89)
2.19(91)
we(2 SHELL stations) are about 6-8 cents lower than everyone else (except ARCO they are the same as us) in the local area, man youd think this was a hot spot for a riot. We have 12 pumps (at my current location) 85% of them have been busy for the last 4 hours. we sold about 2000 gallons of 87 ontop of what we sold this morning, this is madness.. my delivery wont come till tomorrow after 4pm and my pumps shut off at 800 gallons. current volume on 87 is 3900 we do about 3200 per day... its guna be close, hopefully the rest of the neighborhood drops prices so the demand on us is a bit slower...
you'd think we were giving this stuff away

They should decrease because of all the oil in Iraq.

In about... 5-8 years...
They still have to get all the refineries, and fields up and running at 100% again.
Awwwww yeeeaaahhhh, 10 gallon 4 cylinder nissan road monster.

One of the things Bush was criticized over with the Iraq situation was only going over there to take their oil. And you know what? At this point I wish that is what we went over there for. Yeah, outroot Saddam, take all their friggin oil, plant some WMD, but get the friggin oil. I want 50 cents gas again.

My sentiments exactly.
In the U.K we get taxed on petrol, with about 65% of the money we pay for petrol going to the government.
We have a traffic problem, so the government tries to persuade us not to use our cars by increasing the petrol tax. Only problem is, the U.K has possibly THE WORST public transport system in the history of the universe. The trains don't go where you need them to go, they're always late, and they're always either overcrowded or dirty.
As for the buses.... what busses? They don't go where you need them to either!
I cycle to College. (that's high school to you)
Dur?
64 canadian cents is like... 50 cents american..
You sure?
/me remembers 89cent/gal prices when some place broke off of OPEC.
And of course there were the lame excuses, oil refineries going down just days before the long weekend, is it just me or do the refineries always end up going down before holidays? Maybe they should fix that... The blackout in the Northeast causing them to lose power, shouldn't they have backup generators if they make all of that $$?
I'm not complaining about the gas prices really,(though as DOOManiac said, it should be around a dollar a gallon, which begs the question, where is all of that Iraqi oil going?) but about how the oil companies seem to be able to operate on their own level, if THEY decide the gas prices need to go up, they go up. If they decide there's an oil shortage then, uh-oh, we're out of oil! Time to drill in Alaska some more, and since it's SO remote up there, double the price of gas again. The government really needs to step in now, though I don't doubt they are getting some "support" from the oil companies themselves.
*P.S -Sorry for the conspiracy theory, just had to get that off my chest.- P.S*
Our province is the only province without pst and only gst...
We rock, because we are richer than most provinces, that is why the government is jealous and thus they take our money, hence the western alienation.

64 cents per litre, not gallon, in Canada. That's why it seems so cheap.
