When you are in-game (already joined a team) F4 takes you to the ready room, it's a hot key.

I'm not sure if it is still implemented in 2.0, but F4 was the keyboard shortcut to leave the game and return to the readyroom of the map. If one team was losing terribly, often players would hit F4 go to the readyroom, and the game would end due to a shortage of players on one team. Essentially if one team was winning and another was losing, the losing team would F4, thus robbing the other team from a well earned victory and glory.

I believe this has been addressed in 2.0, or through server plugins. Many servers won't let you return to the readyroom after 5 minutes of the game has passed.

That was my long winded but thorough answer.

LoL Lost of glory due to a f4.

That gives me even more glory if a team f4's. It means that we rocked them so f'ing hard that they were better off f4'ing or leaving the server. F4 win = better than a full win imo.

All I have to say on this is, without F4, some NS 2.0 games seem to go on forever and ever with no progress being made by either team.

I still think that's better than the whole team just leaving.

Why?

are you excited when using charge, or something? If you have five "onii", three hives, and the marines are holding on with just GL spam.. who, honestly, cares? Marines lose either way, so unless you get something out of doing third-hive abilities, what's the big deal with F4?...

applies to aliens, too.

I say, get the game over with so we can start a new one proper, and have fun.

"stalemates" are educational, F4ing is just a cheap exit and leads to much more depressing 1-stage games.

Not at all- f4ing is education, cos it shows when the game is really over....

besides, theres no reason to be against it- you cant nazi every player into the ground. They can choose whenever they'd like to resign from the game.

You know, chess players have a much different thought on 'resigning.' There really isn't anything wrong with F4ing when the game is lost. But, what is really annoying, is when just enough people F4 while the game isn't lost yet, in a game they could have won. That's what's annoying.

this is a game where you play a piece not an overview, and my opinions in resigning in chess are the same. Its all about mistakes, its all about stamina, only in the highest realms does conceding well before the end mean anything.

What??
It's never worth resigning in Chess. IMHO. You can almost always catch your opponent with that move he just wzsn't expecting.

Anyway, I think the Communist is right. Despite F4ing being a bit of a disappointment, (and yes, I do get kicks out of charging into marine base, not so much adrenaline rush as onos rush, but hey,) I think as long as their team F4s at the end and not yours (when u think you're winning,) then it's OK.

i once took out half the army with just a king and a few pawns. I lost, but it was fun.

F4ing when the game is decided and the onos are just sitting over the IPs devouring everyone is understandable. If my team is doing that, i attack the IPs myself, even though they get annoyed at me, becasue its lame. F4in when aliens have just taken back another hive is completely stupid (yes, marines did do that once) the game hasnt been won, it could still go either way, and you have just robbed both teams of what could be a very interesting and enjoyable game
