Sigh, why did they do that? Some people have scratche mics, annoying voices, or they just dont' understand what the term "quiet" is. But having it mute text too just hurts the team.
Does anyone know how to mute just the voice but not the text? I hope they fix this in whatever newest version is comming out.

Yes yes, but the point is now if you choose to mute those people it means you can't even read their text. So when something important happens you won't know.
I always told people "im muting you, use text if you need to speak to me"...now that doesn't work cause of this new, stupid, feature.
Many servers have flood control anyway, ive never seen a problem with chat...and even if someone is spamming its so small it can easily be ignored. What possessed them to put this into the game?

Yeah, like when the comm is all nervous and in a bad mood ( <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo--> ) he starts screaming on the voice chat, which makes him annoying and gives the skulks to sneak and attack our backs, but he's the comm after all, he gives the orders, can't mute him =/
I agree with the current method of muting both, until a system of muting each separtely is implemented. Wouldn't you rather have an option that mutes both voice and text than an option that only mutes voice but has no ability to mute text?
No, as I explained I rarely, if ever, find a reason to need to mute text. Text does not prevent gameplay like voice chat does. Having text mute means that if someone has an annoying voice that my whole teams gonna suffer or I end up suffering because I can't just block the sound.
Being able to continue to read the text is important. I certainly hope flayra finds the time to fix this. While a flag in the config that says "on = mute all, off = mute voice only" would be nice, the simpliest and quickest way would be to put it back how it was.
The problem with voice chat is that many people treat it like a telephone. They just talk to hear themselves talk. If they know they are muted they'll type something that the team needs to know...but the new system prevents that. Hence why its bad.
Even if a person using text says nothing important all you get are some small words (unless your using some 600x400 screen res, but then its your own fault) on the screen for a brief while. There is really nothing a text spammer can do to ruin your gameplay because its so easy to ignore.
Voice chat on the other hand can not be 'ignored'. When someone is yapping it blocks out other sounds in the game. The mute should be voice only.
They should just implement some sort of delay to stop spamming teamchat with annoying messages at critical moments like preparing a siege outside a hive *coughallsuxcough*
