I think NS should go over to HL2
Just because of the GFX improvments and the MAP improvments that will be done.

Not to mention, when a new games comes out the predecessor game starts to lose it fan base really quick.

    Example:
Who plays Quake 1 any more?
    no too many ppl.
Quake 3 has tons more players than Quake 2.

Yeah, but I seriously doubt everyone will leave "old-skool" NS...

I read today the FAQ complete and it say that parts of the HL1 mod code can be use in HL2.
It say we doesn't wait a long time. its A big reson to change NS to HL2!! and not to Doom3 or Stalker!!

im sure flayra being the c++ god of ns can program such - but the problem arises of new models, no skins, textures etc. and the biggest problem of all - maps. all the maps would have to be redone etc etc. there have been many ns in hl2 posts, and such that the same problems have aroused. right now ns pushes hl to its limits, but if ns was ported to hl2 it would be essentially a new game, especially copeing with the new physics engine - imagine how much **** you have to do to make a mod work with this incredible engine

I personally HATE vehicles on most FPS, and NS is not an exception. I think, for example, having them on Battlefield is nice as the game itself has been created to work with them. Vehicles in NS would suck.

I don't like the idea of vehicles. It's just an idea that's been beaten to death already. But it would add more "units" to the fray. Aliens are easy. You just "evolve" them. You can have some kinda giant dinosaur that is > onos.

Anyway, I could imagine it would all be map specific. Maybe "classic" mode where it's indoors, and then outdoors map with large scale units. Aliens would start as Fades and have aliens level 5-9 available cause the hive senses more dangerous threats and starts pooping out stronger lifeforms etc etc.

If you guys have ever been to siege909, in the readyroom there is a transparent floor where you can look down at and watch the people play from. Its so awesome and i hope they can do this for every map or at least more of them.

If not, a TV screen thingy overviewing the map in the readyroom would be nice, like watching the superbowl in a bar.

Thats sorta what I was thinking. Have Indoors servers and Outdoors servers.
If this isn't possible (pretty sure it is), someone should start learning the code from flayra and make a whole new ns mod just for the large outdoors battles. And about the "Shooting onos from other side of map because level is horribly flat" I'm pretty sure HL2 will have TERRAIN! Meaning cliffs, sand dunes, mountains, forests, lakes, on and on and on...What I imagine is Halo sorta but a much better game.

I also like the story-type game. Sorta like SvenCo-op except with more action. You could have maps that are all 'Rines and maps that are all aliens! That would kick-**** IMO.

Has anything about AI been said? It would kick even more if there were bots that are smart enough to gorge and comm (comm would be a bit hard, me thinks).

I think NS's future is very bright. /me goes buys sunglasses.

Are you joking? Imagine 'Goring' a buggy and tipping it over and the hapless marines tumble out.

I LIKE the idea of vehicles. Imagine space battles... the Kharaa start to infest on of the ships.... the comm locks down that sector with blast doors.... the aliens have to break through them. Some of the humans escape with escape pods and get picked up by other friendly ships.... or get owned by the Kharaa.

tbh I like the trapped in a spaceship feel NS has atm, so I wouldn't want too many out doors maps, but I wouldn't mind seeing multiple commanders, the better graphics, and of course some nice physics.
