Sorry, who?
Ah, nm. Well, thanks for your time. Not good losing a player. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
sorry to hear your leaving
And yea, NS is tiresome at times, marine wins are like... non existant. Its boring knowing from the outset that you are going to lose.

Flamey and rude. No need for it. Why not post an intelligent piece of writing in the tactics forum or something?
And as for G*angsta, kind of curious to know why you are leaving. Difficult to make a game better without feedback.
was what i was going to say.. but nubs will be nubs.. nuff said
The reason why is that I simply refuse to play as aliens in 2.0 because it's so easy to win. Same reason I wouldn't play as marines in 1.04, but even then a good alien side still had a resonable chance of victory. Not quite the same now: I've seen clan stacked marine sides, including the best clan in Australia, not even stand a chance. So I only play marines which leads to such memorable games as Skydiving on Hera, which consists of the team jumping off the landing platform. The very occassional marine victories are nice, but I know the only reason we won was that the aliens screwed up.
2.01d is lovely, like a breath of fresh air, but the only local server is 31 players <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> Needless to say, it's hard for me to give constructive beta feedback when the very server itself numerically unbalances the game.
So that's my feedback and the reason why I'm becoming less and less interested in playing NS currently. I remain confident that 2.1 will fix the game, but in the meantime it's either too boring or depressing to play. I would also make the point that the Gamearena and Optus pub servers here in Australia, which for 2 weeks after 2.0's release were jam packed, are all rapidly draining of players. The Gamearena servers, which used to have 128 people constantly on them, now have at most 50 or so, and that's peak hour usage.

This post left me with Reggies temporarily suspended account, a little mess to clear up, and a decent amount of paperwork.
I said it once, I won't say it again: Flame and face the consequences.
Sorry to see ya go, G.

<span style='color:white'>Be nice.</span>
....but it really makes me feel bad inside when a fellow player leaves the community due to 'certain circumstances'
Goodbye, hope you come back as soon as you change your mind <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
But if they get 2.1 out... 2.01d is pretty balanced, so...
- Posting like this has it's bad sides, as there will undoubtedly be many nubs attracted to such posts to flame and raise their post count, and thereby proving their immaturity which is already well known
- I completely understand the urge to make a post like this, to say a goodbye and a thanks to the people who are actually capable of behaving normal and being helpfull.
- It's sad to see people leaving the boards, and NS in general, although I can understand one leaving the boards for many... <b>many</b> reasons.
Hope to see you mess up some skulks again one day <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Ah well...I personally don't agree, as 2.01d has proved very balanced and fun for me...and even 2.0 is an improvement on 1.04, I can't actually see where people are coming from when they say aliens had a chance in 1.04 near the end? Once the relocaton (which saved res) into JP rush tactic was wide spread, there was no counter to the marine game and no chance of winning as an alien.
At least I've seen on 2.0 that a good marine team will win out if it is able to hold on.
Noj, tell *G* to change his mind and to not be so soppy, 2.01 will be done officially soon, and it'll spell good times for all <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

I've often thought about leaving, but to be quite honest, ns is like crack. You may not particularly like it at the moment, and you may get fed up an say "I'm done," but it has it's extreme highs, and after I've been away for 6-8 hours, I'm quite ready to sit back down even if I know I'll always win (dedicated kharaa player since October 31st, 2002, why should I change now just because my team is on top instead of on bottom. I consider this payback for the 1.04 jp/hmg rushes. Too bad those almost always failed against me and my teams). This game is addicting.
Realize that Balance and Fun have little to do with one another; i.e. just because you may have one, you may not have the other. For instance, going 1 on 1 with Micheal Jordan would be fun, but not balanced, whereas playing War is balanced, but hardly the most entertaining card game.
Balance and Fun are certainly not mutually exclusive, and while having both would be ideal, at some point you need to ask which you'd rather focus on. It seems they chose Balance. I won't comment on whether that was either achieved or the right choice.
Maybe those that take a reactionary (flame-ish) tone to these posts lack the experience of seeing older iterations of NS and/or the drammatic turnarounds which were more prevalent therein.
I never found 1.04 jp/hmg foolproof. Ignoring that, at least the outcome was quick. In 2.x the endgames are much more prone to be drawn out, forgone conclusions.
If I hadn't seen any version prior to 2.x, I'd think NS was fine. However, knowing about the earlier versions makes it clear what has been lost.
In my opinion, those people who have seen the earlier versions, would be more likely to lose interest in NS now, than if they had either a) left NS at 1.04, or b) tweaked 1.04 for balance.
They are a small population, a minority if you will...and usually the die hard marines from 1.04.
I've talked with quite a few like them.
"omg 1.04 was so much more fun!"
"yeah but in 1.04 aliens had no chance, I hated 1.04 at the end, I gave up playing NS until the new version came out"
"well, yeah but at least aliens had a chance in 1.04, in 2.0 marines have NO CHANCE AT ALL!"
"well thats not right, marines have plenty of chance in 2.0, aliens had mush less in 1.04"
"But marines aren't winning!"
And thats where the crux of the problem is...some people won't be happy unless their favourite side is winning...
However this only makes me confuse with people like *G*, because 2.01d is not at all bad, and marines win as much as aliens...and it's coming out soon. It's bad to lose a player from the communiy, especially when their reasoning is going to be swept away with a new update in the not too distant future. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
And on a side note...i never saw 1.04 turn arounds in the last 2 months of playing it, only quick and boring marine victories unless the commander didn't use the JP route...however I see lots of turnarounds in 2.0...what gives showder?
