Clumping Buildings An Exploit?!

<div class="IPBDescription">Oh come on...</div> Ive been playing on a certain server fairly often lately (im not going to name because it isnt relevant) and try to comm every game I get in. Today I was surprised to see an admin warn me over csay about clumping my buildings to "exploit the electricity on the TF". I couldnt believe how this could be considered a "lame exploit" Its freaking common sense! My build order is usually IP>TF>electrify TF and go get res towers, I dont even build Turrets. Why should it be considered an exploit to build as close as possible to the electric field to cover more of my buildings?


Im not going to stop building this way as I think its ridiculous to consider it an exploit. I was just wondering what you guys thought of it.

    It seems more likely the person in question was griping since skulks without support couldnt waltz in and smash your base while your marines are away...

    The server admin sounds like an idiot. While it protects your buildings in the early game, it means a quick and severe death to your base when a gorge comes along with bile bombs.

    Exploit indeed!

    Heck no this is not an exploit. We've been able to do this forever, which is the proof in itself. If this wasn't supposed to happen they would have made it so you couldn't build a TF within 5 feet of any other building- and they would have done this a LONG LONG time ago.

    Clumping buildings together is not a exploit... in fact in some games you HAVE to clump your buildings together to achive the best efficency/protection/etc (bunkers + supply depot walls in SC; The Settler's game series)

    HOWEVER, using the bug that allows you to electrify a IP or a protolab when near to something that can be electrified IS a exploit.

    So:
    Clumping [buildings] so [a] TF [c]an defend buildings with [the] electrify upgrade w/o turrets = Good as long as a gorge doesn't come along [ <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> ]
    Clumping [buildings] to using the "electify all nearby buildings" bug = Exploit
