I found myself with a spare computer which I've installed Linux on, and thought *wow* wouldnt it be good to stick this on my network and use it as dedicated server.

The fing is,, I've only got Windows version of Half-Life. Do I have to buy another copy? Or can I just download a copy from the Internet and use my existing CD-key? And the Windows version is compatible ewith the Linux version I hope?

Any help would be appreciated!

If you look at <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=8&t=40291' target='_blank'>this</a> thread it gives you a URL to download the hlds files for linux. You don't need a CD Key.
