<div class="IPBDescription">A game or a game developing platform?</div> We have now seen the announcment of the game Half-Life 2. And we all drool as we await the game.
But another thing is happening: People are starting to get mod-crews together, plan and dream of what they can do with the new HL2 SDK. Half-Life 2 may already have moved from mainly a game to mainly a game-developing platform -- a process that took Half-Life several years and that no other games has done before.
However, this is only my observation. What do you people see?

What he said.
It is what we -experience- Half-Life to be.
The other 2% is when I decided to play through the single player story, but I became distracted and havn't finished the story yet. I probably should though, theres probably some plot stuff that I need to know for HL2.
But I will definitely play through the story of Halflife 2.
Of course, I'll play through HL2, but I'm mostly looking forward to mods.
Ooooh you're dead. <i>Dead</i> <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

As you wrote this, were you only aware of what facts you were writing at that time?
Not only has HL2 been announced, there'd been many arumor that it would be delayed, but evantually again stated it would reach it's Sept. release.
Not only have alot of HL2 mod teams have got together, they've begun development already.
Anyway Im gonna enjoy it big time (buying a new pc in sept and all <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> )
It was pretty awesome back in 1998.

Well... umm... at least people aren't just leaving these fanatic remarks about just id games anymore. heh.
...
And about mods moving to HL2, lets just say that it has almost killed off Serious Sam modding.
The SS comunity lost 2 mods, One was an urban fruturistic mod called Hit-Squad (the main guy also created the insta-gib mod for serious sam) and International Defence Forces a german mod that Quote "Looks Like Halo"
It was going to have it all veachles, big bangs and uber graphics, not to mention the 40 planned maps of pwn.
Edit: Yes this has relevance since more and more mods are going to HL2 for the engine when they could do it with a differnet engine and achieve the same effect.
So in short HL2 = Pimpage for the source engine.
