    Lest people be too eager to heap abuse onto id for not being Valve - remember that id introduced the very concept of making mods, even if they didn't support their mod community quite as eagerly as Valve did later. I can't even count the number of Doom and Quake mods I installed - it was such an exciting new world! Buy one game, get a hundred! Valve was simply intelligent enough to capitalize on this existing trend; they didn't start it themselves.

    Also remember that Half-Life itself was based on the Quake engine (versions 1 and 2).

    Insult not the name of the Carmack, for we owe him everything. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

At ECTS, myself and Grendel had a fancy tutorial by the Softimage guys on how to use Softimage to make that cliff featuring as the normal map example in the HL demo video. The whole wall was split up into 5 polygons by the texture, then normal maps applied. Then he ran around the level a bit, its simply amazing stuff.

    I simply cannot wait. :D <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
    I saw a video of that. VERY VERY cool stuff.

    Quite frankly as long as the graphics are at least a tiny bit better than HL1 and the physics are better, I will be happy with whatever Valve decides to spoon feed me, because I am a HL fanboy.

    Me Too....

    However there needs to be one more thing before I can have Half-Life Nirvana.

    That my friends is Adrian Shepard and a group of US marines fighting it out against the combine.

    That my friends would be the ultimate in Pwn
