Looks like one of the blaster worm script kiddies got nailed today by the FBI.

<!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->The FBI has arrested a Minnesota teenager officials said admitted to making a copycat variant of the devastating Blaster Internet worm, even as experts combed over data to hunt down the virus's creator.

Jeffrey Lee Parson, 18, of Hopkins, Minnesota, a middle- class suburb west of Minneapolis, was arrested on one count of intentionally causing or attempting to cause damage to a computer, according to a St. Paul district court clerk.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

this guy made the B variant, which was supposed to be more lethal, but i sure didnt see any of it going around, also, this news was reported on slashdot this morning that the FBI was GOING TO arrest someone. isnt that kinda odd that they would announce the intent to arrest someone prior to doing so? it all sounds fishy like its a PR stunt to scare the real virus writers.

It's because the intention to arrest was not formally announced by the FBI - it was leaked from inside sources. Which is why when you read slashdot, God kills a kitten.

Ok, I'm a network technician for the dorms at my college. I do onsite work in residences' dorm rooms to fix their computers. I've worked nearly 90 hours in the past week and a half due to that damn worm and I still got about 2 days of work to go still. I don't think I've ever wanted to see the judicial system go horribly overboard in its punishment as I do now. This has been such a nightmare cleaning up the mess that worm caused on my campus.

Donno how many actually hit the articles that actually managed not to mess up the information. This loser made a few minor tweaks on the original worm to create a backdoor-carrying variant, which infected something like 7K computers total. Being a complete idiot usually gets in the way of a successful virus...

Having said that: BURN THE SCRIPT KIDDIE

(my suggestion for treatment of the original author would probably get me banned)

Monse never existed. He was a legend made up by a bunch of tourists who wanted to be famous. Like the people who claim to have seen Big Foot. Monse is just an urban legend. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
