    Omg the colour looks SO GOOD on that alien. This hive mutation thing should really be considered. What a kick ###### idea, maybe it can be controlled by a skulk or something so different players can use it. All the ideas for its attack/ abilities should not be ignored, they are really good ideas.

    Nice model by the way, reckon you would make that thing /\ ?

    uni life and insects-infestation take up most of my time, im sure NS has plenty of modellers for this stuff tounge.gif

    It would be a nice project ot work on some time though, would be fun to skin.

    Well, as it stands for aliens we have :
    A Basic
    A Builder
    A Tank
    A Fighter
    and a flyer.

    So should we start looking at hybrids of two or 3 of them?
    Perhaps the NS 2 would have a system where you can gestate from an onos to a partial way of a Lerk, or something or the sort...

    The only other thing i can think of is a real speedy alien.
    Game customisation should be client-side and community-driven, not server-side and developer-driven.

    Here's my input on how the following aliens I suggested somewhere else could look like.

    The pic I drew here is just a rough sketch and nothing alike what other cool things ppl did here in this thread XD

    Scoutling (The smaller one)

    Overall:
    A very small 5res pesky lifeform.
    Capable of providing hivesight "Scent of Fear"-lvl2 to fellow creatures of the kharaa.
    Main job would be to spy on the TSA's progress with stealthy approach.
    Does lighter and very quiet "tick" sounds.

    Has cloak lvl1 BUT not the invisibility(!)
    Instead, it should allow the Scoutling to move into Obs-surveilling perimeters. Thus not appearing on motiontracking unless the Scoutling has suffered dmg recently and will not be attacked by turrets unless the creature is comprimised or has attacked something somebody.

    Should be able to shoot parasites, that deal 1dmg for less energy costs.
    Primary job should be utility such as surveillance for the team, acting as a mobile sensory chamber.

    Scoutling should have the ability to "leech" res from marine RT nodes.
    The Scoutling would have a pool of (0/7) to fill and can return it to a gorge or hive by +USE command (that "e" key).

    Should be able to wallwalk

    Cons:
    Cannot gestate into Gorge immediately and requires longer time to re-gestate into skulk.

    Whipper

    Imagine the Alien™ Xenomorph's tail, only that a Kharaa lifeform would have four or five.

    This idea is a bit far-fetched.

    Able to Wall-stick (not wall-walk)
    Able to "plunge ahead", a type of leap or blink, yet slower and does not cost energy.


    Offensive
    Basic ability:
    Direct and precise tail whip/sting (remember AVP)
    Costs low energy

    Hive1 ability:
    Can use its tails as an extended swipe.
    Swings tails viciously to wreck havoc. Can deal severe dmg over a short time by swinging tails several over the frontal arc.

    Moderate to high energy costs

    Hive2 ability:
    Can deliver several swings at once causing Area of Effect melee damage.
    Mutilple swings allows it to take on a small group of marines. Requires high amount of energy.
    Causes either knockback or major desoritation (major FOV wobble like in TFC, the concussion grenades -that cause your aim to go sloppy)
    Should be used for hit and run.

    Should require a lot of energy. The whipper needs to escape with its +MOVEMENT ability.

    Hive3 ability:
    Tail embrace.
    Can "capture" one marine or heavy armor.

    Once the victim has been captured, the whipper is unable to attack other units. Primary use is to take the victim to fellow Kharaa players and have them attack the victim.
    Embrace requires energy-over-time. Once depleted, the victim is free.

    i got an idea for an underwater/land based alien, now you can swin and breathe underwater( I HOPE sad-fix.gif )
    the name i though of for it is Gerrak

    Using Its webbed feet, i can swim, very fast,its a strength is between a skulk and a gorge, with armored scales, very different look than the others, and light weight with the height of a skulk,
    Gestating time Of 18 seconds, the battle use it for marines passing in water, a river or something, they would have scubagear, and the marines would have the armor type of Scuba,the gerrak would be used to attack them, and others,it would also be useful for sneaking to bases, from water, finding a spot to gestate to something else and attack the base, or stay as a gerrak then can support gorges to make wateroffence chambers that can attack any swimming marine's, and with a 4th hive,gerraks get there 5th ability
    They Breathe Water With There Gills on there necks, and breathe air with the tubes on there back:)

    Notic:why not stick with the idea of having a map thats mostly land with water with vents?
    the mappers dont even HAVE TO ADD ANY WATER, the gerrak can go on land you know, thats why theres legs and not just fins, you people dont get why there's webs on there feet,the feet are attached to there LEGS, the damn thing is made for going on land 60% of the time, why theres that tail,plus its build for land and water

    ATTACKS


    Bite: It Bite's Marines Or Stuff for 60 damage, with poison in its fangs, it slowy kills a marine, first they start to loose sight, then become very weak and slow, then they cant hold all there armor and weapons to loose the added weight, then they die within 13 seconds

    Tail Stab: 130 Damage, it stabs marines with its tail very fast, very painful, and leave's a very nasty deep wound, its tail leaks poison that kills what's left of marine, with 10 damage per second

    Spike: it Fire's The Spike On Its Tail for 60 damage

    Sense: Hold To Use,it senses nearby enemy's, aliens and structures

    Under-Water Instinct:It simply morphs into a better fish, first the tubes on the back goes in it,it's tail gets longer and the two back feet get bigger,gills grow larger and it gets stronger, it goes alot faster in water, but, since it cant breathe air anymore it must stay in the water,its a perminate effect useful only when the mapper made the map mostly water, or then theres water allover in rivers, etc


    i think its a bit nerdy *lol* but who knows when you need underwater reinforcement?
    personally, i would LOVE to see this in NS2 and beyond

    Attak 1. Hyperfist: bonemastered knuckle Penetrates even CC. Damage: 50

    Slot 2. Excrinfest: stretchs the neck and bites with acidic infested mouth same time diseasing
    with bacteric, takes so much energy (slow attack ahhh) takes time to recover.
    damage 70, 5 per. 2 seconds until some medpack

    Slot 3. Testosteronesyringe: mouth-based needle stings near alien and gives Focus lasting
    one minute

    Slot 4. Acid Excrete Orifice: Shoots enormous bile of guttural acid moss which splats and
    corroses spawning flying parasites....damage: 500 (bilebomb damaging everything)

    damn that thing could be a bump map all on its own. hum it looks like it might benfit from being in the resident evil line of games tho. seams a tad to spikey and exsternaly muscular.

    yeah the arms, foot and head are crap. I searched it from schoolpapers and revisited it quikly as thought than i didnt want post very seriously to this topic yet when bumping

    Although, id say theres no way it could move like that, theres simply to much of the body leaning forward for it to be able to ballance its weight.

    yeah lol, it would need a 2 meter tail if wanna move with 2 legs like that, bit ###### planning. Maybe in that motion it can hold for like 5 seconds due absolute horrid pressure on spine and the Acid excrete orifice (huge acid cannon) weighting so much so it works for turbofitness

    stealth alien because bonespiked hands are feet make horrible noise

    Cost: 40 res. Only upgrade from Skulk when 3 hives

    Health: 150 Armor: 60

    Lenght: 173 cm
    Weight: 120 kg just for fun

    Climbs of course walls and other surface

    Ultra Attak 1. Goreslasher: Swipes with 4 arms rather same time or separately with 2 arms
    at time. Damage: 50

    Ability 2. Sensory Brainburn: Enables sensory chamber effect causing near aliens cloak
    and disappearing from marine radar even with motion tracker yeah yeah takes energy of coz

    Ability 3: Elektroxzono: Shoots Red Multiradiation blast from tail (Quake 2 railgun type attak)
    Damage: 65 takes energy lot

    Ability 4: Magnet Pulse Carbonize: Creates EMP forcefield around alien which disables
    marine buildings inside it, takes energy slowllyl

    Special Attak 5: Bowel Tail. Simply swipes with the stupid tail splatter ahhh this ability always available
    Damage: 70 slow attack

    I agree than that "blood" truly sucks so i dont care a ###### i also have colored version but this is so silly

    That thing reminds me of the super fast zombie's in Half Life 2.

    On a serious note to everyone:
    I'm not sure if this was said before (I only read the last page) but I'll say it anyway as a friendly reminder. If I were a dev, the only reason I would include a new alien is to add a whole new aspect to the aliens. What I'm mainly focused is the role of the alien as a whole. Take the current aliens as example:

    Skulk: Fast, ambusher unit
    Gorge: Builder, anti-structure, healer unit
    Lerk: Area-effect support unit
    Fade: Fast, hit and run unit
    Onos: Slow, heavy assault unit


    So my suggestion if you were to add a new alien is to add a new aspect to NS. Some idea's I have are:

    A Spy Unit: Specializes in gathering information and covert strikes. Able to set up "camera's" of some sort and either cloak or disguise as something. Currently the skulk and the sensory chamber has a similar role to this.
    A Sabotage Unit: Specializes at temporarily sabotaging marine equipment. Able to disable marine structures or even weapons. Perhaps able to make teleportation exits (used in a similar fashion to using MC's to teleport hives) to make surprise attacks.
    A Underwater Unit: As said in above posts.
    A Long Ranged Unit: Similar to the spikes the lerks had in the 1.0x times. Probably wouldn't make it because of balance issues.

    Anyway, besides that, good idea's coming out. I'm thinking that its going to be hard to sort out all the idea's and remove the wheat from the chaff. Doesn't matter tho, keep up the good work.

    Hmm lol Fast zombie is exhumed decomposed human corpse which is reanimated by fast headcrab, that alien looks rather more lizardman with skulk spikes and Sensory chamber mutation in head. I have one "underwater" alien which has a dolphin tail lol maybe i add that later if i want to

    Well that Mnorethohd is basically some sort of Spy/Sensorychamber unit

    You don't 'get' drawing skills, you learn them. If you want to learn, drawn small thumbnails, around 4cm wide. It's much easier to create a composition of a creature or environment on this scale, and when you create a good composition, try and make it bigger.

    Learning skills like how perspective works will also improve your drawing a great deal.
