Don't Blame Your Comm!

Okay, another topic about not whining to your comm about how you lost because he sucks.
Let me give you an example, i was on the other day (i cant remember the map) and we were owning the map hard, but the aliens had planned a well placed assault on one of our phases, so the comm tells everyone to get there, only squad 5 goes (me and 2 others) we save that phase by a hair, after we got welded and med-packed, the comm said "only squad 5 gets equipment, because they were the only ones doing anything" so the rest of the team proceeded to say OMG N00B comm Eject eject!!
squad 5 voted against this, and the comm stayed, so we eventually ended up winning the game thanks to us, some of the people saw the light and acctually came over to the good side.
But seriously people if you want to win as marines LISTEN TO YOUR COMMANDER! just because he does things diffrent then you doesent mean hes "n00b", maybe you should try some new strats for once.
Now please remember my words of wisdom and win!

A better way of putting it would probably be don't eject the comm just because he isn't being nice to you and giving you things.
Example:
Myself and one fellow marine managed to get outside a hive-in-construction.
Me: "Comm, build a phase gate at our location!" (I use need orders voice command)
*Comm drops turret factory and nothing else.*
Me: "Comm....we need reinforcements......."
*3 Skulks come and bite our ***** off.*
Yay for comm that likes turrets more than phase......... <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
Marines don't like to listen, comms don't like to spend their res on marines.
As long as both parties live in this understanding, the loss comes a lot smoother.
Unless you get a team that is actually willing to listen, then the magic happens.
Also remember that the commander can only be in one place at one time.

True
Agreed.
Marines, from what I've seen, are way to solo based for their own good. While my example is not god, I never leave my base far unless I have specific orders (like "everyone get to south loop now!" or getting a direct waypoint). Generally, when you are without orders, it would be fairly wise to get the amount of ammo you want (I use 50/150 for LMG, 10/30 pistol, and max for big guns) and patrol the direct halls outside your base. You might be killed, but you weren't out far and you didn't lose much ground, plus you stand a good chance of earning some extra res for your commander by killin a few skulks milling around outside your base.

The marines who whine about their comm are the ones who will be extremely reluctant to admit that THEY THEMSELVES are the reason the team lost.
Usually it goes like this :
Idiot : WTH COMM OMG YOU SUCK DONT EVER COMM AGAIN
Comm : Um....how can we win if no one wants to exit the marine start?
Idiot : OMG COMM SUCKS HE ALWAYS BLAMES THE MARINES WHY DONT YOU BLAME YOURSELF?!?!?!?!ADMIT YOU ARE WRONG!!!!!!11111
ffs
What? He is doing something that *I* found stupid? Maybe he just did a false manip' or else. I point him out what I think is a mistake, ask him if this was what he intended and show him my point of view or something.
To take an already given Example (yeah I feel a little bit lazy):
<!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Myself and one fellow marine managed to get outside a hive-in-construction.

Maybe the com doesn't have rez left to afford a PG right at that moment (maybe a massive assault was held against main base).
Maybe he had sent for reinforcements but those said reinforcements were ambushed by hostiles somewhere along their trip to your location.
Another quoted example:
<!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->for some strange reason the comm makes two extra command consoles in the same room. I just left the game after that.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Maybe he was mistaking the CC button for something else more useful or the cat jumped over the keybord or whatever, how may I know? lol
Let's assume that the com is someone with a little bit of experience (I say a little, because after reading another post, I was given the idea that only few true good coms exist in the NS communauty).
Maybe what he did was a mistake due to distraction or the rez geting low etc.
Don't automaticaly judge him.
Ask him why he did it (or not). Propose him what you think needs to be done or what should have been done in oder for him to improve.
This prevails mostly for the first example.
In the other case, let's assume the com is a newcomer (yeaaah, a n00b if you cant think of it in another way).
Assume that all good players have the same behabiour. Then if good players, when they see the com make such an huge and obvious strategical fault, just quit the game, then don't *EVEN* come and cry that those coms are so dumb and stuff.
<i>Nobody told him here it was a mistake. </i>
Of course, he may assume all by himself that this was a mistake later if he gets more experience... but it will take time if nobody helps him to find out about those kind of issues.
And chances are he will get kicked to death out the CC before he may really improve in anyway...
Yes, there maybe bad commanders, but if they do silly things, tell them what they are doing wrong instead of just leaving the game and then complaining about the fact that there are so many bad coms.
The only case I may say a com is a *bad* com is when he is not comming at all, but instead spends the all rez in ammo in base near Armory, then starts to recycle the entire stuff.
Then, this guy IS a bad com to me.
Unless I'm confronted to these case of absolute stupidity, I consider the com doing not so well just a newcomer. He deserves the right to try his best and do a few mistakes.
Try being a little bit more tolerants people. And be communicative.
Look, if you just kick a newcomer out of the CC just because he lost *this* game, without giving him advices, then you didnt achived anything.
Oh no, I'm wrong: you managed to keep low the amount of good coms in the community by preventing someone from improving his skills at comming. You can be proud of yourself.
<!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
Maybe he will repeat the same mistakes over and over.
Until some guy just take some of his playing time, stay at base a minute or two, in order to type to him what he thinks is good and try to help the newcomer. And by helping, I dont mean "Oh! You Didnt listen to what I said you n00b! Now you can die! I vote-kick/F4!"
But trying to monitor him a little.
And this guy will have done what? He will have helped a guy become a better commander.
He would have helped to raise the amount of good commanders.
He would have helped increase the fun for the all community.
Dont forget communities are made of individuals. Coms are individuals. If you help one of those individuals become a good com, then everybody belonging to the community will be happy, and what it would have costed you? Some time, for sure, and maybe the loss of several games.
But <i>marines lose so many games because of n00b commanders</i>, so it shouldnt matter some more or less, right?
Particularly if you achieve this.
That was my 2cents.
Edit: I should learn to do shorter posts... <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
