Oh it worked...
I was on nothing with a prety average Marine team when i saw a few gorges outside our start. i put a few pot shots in that direction when i saw it... 6-7 gorges came pouring out of the damn entryway... the first 2 were bilebombing our base (IPs and armory so far) while the other 4 were HEALSPRAYING EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!

AAAAAGGGGGHHHHHH it worked so well i just had to post this here...

    And the gorgegang strikes again....

Of course it worked,we wouldn't have fattehs in 2.0 without buffing it up a little unless we still intend them to be weak....

It's like an ant,1 ant may not be strong enough to lift a 1kg rock, and 5 is more than enough to lift one

Nothing like 3 shotguns/HMGS and seeing all red on the Kharaa scoreboard.

This isn't a tactic, it's just a way of gloating. If the marines lose to a massive group of gorges, they wouldn't have had a chance against a force with some real attack power. You would have been slaughtered by umbra'd onos, fades, etc.

actually a gorgegang is the perfect all around attack force for any non-superfarmed base
there all small and somewhat mobile with a decent jump therefore hard to hit
healspray has good reach so 4+ gorges all healspraying not only kill everything but heal each other too
now if you have 8 players have 6 heal (give them adrenaline) and the other 2 spit/bilebomb/(web?) everything in sight (they should take celerity or adrenaline, based on pref) if other upgrades are available regen/(cloak/SoF) would be best
the only drawback: it needs teamwork

Um, slaughter is a relative term. I mean they might as well drop their guns and surrender so they have their choice of marinades.

Gorges are tough, but not that tough. The only time they are really tough is when you have low level weapons and they have cara. Even then, a shotty makes very short work of them.

Dude, a concentrated gorg rush by good players can utterly ANIHILATE the marine base. I remember this one scrim I played in where 4 people on the alien team went gorg and 2 stayed skulk and they just slowly moved in on our base dropping oc's and healing each other and the skulks who would fly out and kill a few marines before retreating to the saftey of the gorgs. Done within the first 2-3 minutes of the game it is almost unstoppable.

Shotties don't work against them either because they always keep their distance and hide behind oc's and spit.

I havn't been in a good gorge rush yet, but I imagine it would be very entertaining.

Gorges on their own can present problems for marines. Sometimes when I hear a marine coming, or see him with SoF, I drop an OC around a corner and wait for the rambo to come running by. Take a few spit potshots at him to get his attention, he turns around hoping to get a gorge kill only to be hit in the face with some more spit and spikes. Healspray works well too, as it heals the OC and its got some pretty good range.

Drop the shotties before they build up the OCs. Kill the gorges, then work on the OCs.

Shotties do work. It will kill a skulk in one shot, a gorge in 2. Add an extra shot each for carapace. Shotguns kill skulks so quickly they have no chance to run and heal, and you can't heal the dead ones. Once the skulks are dead, they have no real offensive power anyway.

Don't go after the OCs until the gorges are all dead. That is exactly what they want you to do. The OCs are their meatshields: they can't take direct fire from a shotty. Run up, unload a few rounds, and your problem dies or redeems. You can then take care of the OCs are your relative leisure.
