Stupid Kids

<div class="IPBDescription">and their need to cheat</div> I don't get it... what's every kid's obsession with "godmode."

My cousins, who're 9 and 13, constantly tell me about how they found a cool website with a million cheats. They also tell me about the cheats they found for GTA3. They watch me play DoD and they urge me to shoot my team mates just to see them die. These are the kids I'd just love to punch if I was playing NS or another online game with them.

Anyway, for the last few days, I've been playing FFVII again in my off time. When I got the game five years ago, I managed to have everyone with 9999hp, 999 mana, all limit breaks, defeated all the weapons, had a gold chocobo, knights of the round... everything. I was attempting to see how quickly I could do this again.

I spent 25 hours - 19 actually getting to the end, and an additional 6 collecting various items and breeding chocobos. All I had was to do some mad levelling for an hour or two to get Omnislash/Seventh Heaven/make 2xCut 4xCut before I could take on the Emerald Weapon.

I went out for lunch with my girlfriend today, and my cousins came over to my house to melt in front of the TV while their mom was at work. Of course, they brought their GameShark with them. I guesed they figured they'd be doing me a favor when I came home and saw that every single character had all limits, all weapons, every item in inventory, level 99 on everyone, with all of my materia mastered.

That's right, 25 hours of my freaking life are wasted because kids can't stop a cheating fetish where they cheat on OTHER PEOPLE'S GAMES.

    man...that...sux.

On another note, younger kids tend to like the mentality that they're all powerful and thus like to be all powerful in whatever they do, whether it be games or being "king of the fort".

And another thing...I used to find it amusing to shoot team mates for the hell of it.

Kids have absolutely nothing to do with their time. Nothing at all. ****, I never did any homework after third grade and passed every class after sleeping through most of it. Kids who cheat games are just cheating themselves out of hours that could have spent being busy, instead of sitting around, deftly bored.

kids 9 and 13 even knew what *edit* sorry me beind stupid-- didnt see the X in there lol** i think you should make them actually play that game for you w/out cheating just to see how much work was really involved, maybe they'll get over their cheating thing.

I always beat the game without any help or cheats before I actually start using cheats.... Even when I was a youngin'!

    you should smack them. hard.

that's the only way kids learn, and i know because my cousins are absolute horrors [i mean it.] and the parents have no control over them

    bad parenting.

Bah they'll get bored of it soon

And if they don't stop I suggest you hide the Gameshark somewhere,I suggest putting it in a non-biodegradeable plastic bag and bury it in your backyard

Next thing you know they'll start whining about where's their Gameshark....but then again they could buy it,so you know the drill <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Let that be a lesson to ya tho: always hide your memory card from the little gits..

But aye, i get what you mean,

I used to find cheats for games, but ONLY AFTER i had actually completed the game in the first place...

Now, the only reason i go to cheats websites is so i can find out how to get past this one annoying little bit....

Well, I always used to have a thing about cheats when I was little (i'm talking, Amiga 500 here, I must have been the only child in the world not to have a SNES or Megadrive). This was mostly because I sucked pretty hard at most of the games (what do you expect? I was 5 when I got the thing).

I soon grew out of it once I got a PC and some games which didn't HAVE cheats.

I'll admit it, sometimes running around on level one with weapons of mass destruction can be sadistically fun. But, ruining someone elses gaming experence is just plain sick. I suggest you get that Lameshark of theirs and beat it to little bits using any large blunt objects within the immediate vicinity. then, in a non-chalant way, say "Godmode that, Nub" and leave the room

Ugh, some people never grow out of it. In my band class, there used to be this one (overweight) kid who would go into the computer room (yes there was a comp room in the band room) and play CS w/godmode and PODbot. Our teacher, being the idiot he was thought the kid was practicing "rhythem techniques" or something. w/e.

I only use cheats for a game after I've beaten it through before. It's nice to go through level 1 with whatever you want, though it also gets boring quickly. Hacking and cheating are good ways to breathe some new life into some single player games. I used to use a GameGenie back in my NES days, but don't like to anymore. I just hate the idea of spoiling the fun of a game by cheating through it the first time, and I hate the idea of cheating online and spoiling everyone's fun even more. But geez, that sucks about your save file. I know whenever kids used to get on my consoles, I'd always try to keep them out of my save files. If someone deleted my 80 hour Skies of Arcadia save, I might kill that person. :P

completing a game without cheating is far more satisfying anyway.
I am seeing more games that only let you access cheats after completing it, which is fine by me. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Paretns din't have expierence in online gaming. So it's like "you can't do bad things in reallife" so the kids think "ok then i'll do it on a computer-game instead so I don't **** anyone off"

Hopefully they don't know how to connect but sometimes they do. Like a kid dosen't know that it's bad envolving to a gorge up in a vent then fall down, go skulk then envolve to a gorge again in the vent while the whole team screams out loud. (Note: example is 1.04)

    hehe...

    yah I cheat liek a bastd in some games <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Things I do:
Speed up ZSNES (I think about all snes games are to slow <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->)
save state liek a bastd for games that I am primarily playing b/c I like seeing the new parts and what not <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> (and b/c I hate having to back track)

I will also save state for those games that have stupidly hard parts (often b/c the engine is flawed)

And I am slo not above the ocasional god mode rampage just for the heck of it (I think we all like that <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->)

So basicaly, my REASON for playing games is diff. I like seeing new things, Alot of the times that is why I like playing games. I meen once I am god liek wit all de purdy toys der aint no reason to kep playn

hehe, ok, that last sentance was me being silly <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

Cheating your way through games is a bit like having sex before marriage. Sure it's fun, but when you go for the real thing, somehow the magic isn't there.

eventualy most people learn that they will get more bang for their buck if they actualy go through the game instead of simply cheating at mach 3 <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

part of me understands the need for instant gratification that makes people want to cheat... it isn't fun to constantly get popped in the head three seconds into the game by some CT who's much better than you... but I've found that there is more satisfaction in playing poorly without cheating than there is owning the game with cheats. I mean maybe some people like cheating... or cheat... or...

Aw the heck with it, I forgot where I was going with this... time to play some NS.

I love cheating, it's the greatest, it gives the game more replay value then ever. But I cheat on MY Single Player game/game files. Cheating online's stupid, and cheating in multiplayer[console] is stupid too, unless everyone has the same cheats! ^_^
