    seems like an alternitive to warez.....it seems more like they contracted the software/music/video companies and used them to make this available in a monthly subscription....or am i missing something? gotta check out the site a bit more. *edit* check out the <a href='http://thedownloadplace.com/terms.html' target='_blank'>Terms</a> seems a bit shady to me

    They charge an arm and a leg for membership, so they probably rely on advertisements and membership fees to pay the companies.

    This site is illegal. 100%, genuine, blatant, freaking OBVIOUSLY Illegal.

    <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->3. You understand that thedownloadplace is a company that does research and locates software to share amongst the members at thedownloadplace. Thedownloadplace does not own any software found on the site.  Thedownloadplace makes no claim to ownership or proprietary interest in any of the websites and/or software it recommends. We do not re-sell or license software downloaded from other sites.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    They <i>do not own or have rights to anything you download.</i>

    <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Q: Does your software allow for the legal downloading of movies?

    A: The software was designed for the legal downoading of movies. However, it can be abused. You must agree when you signup that you do not intend to download illegally.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    Does that sound familiar? Yeah, that's how Sharman Networks (Kazaa) and every other P2P filesharing service has justified providing illegal pirated software to the masses.

    Do not join this site, or you will most likely end up in a world of legal hurt. Or, judging from the various WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR DAMAGES etc, a world of viruses (hidden ones, but I would bet good money they're out there).

    Unfortunately (or fortunately for those few:( ), if the files are not located directly on their server, they can not be held liable. It's still an ongoing case with various loopholes, thanks to the Dig. Mill. Act. I've seen sites like these that you have to download some Kazaa-like software for the songs/progs. because they definitely can not put files on the website, at most only links.

    And their "Terms" is BS and laughable.

    I don't have anything against people who download stuff there suppose to buy as long as they don't freely distribute it to the masses for profit, but only for personal use. This though, is stupid.
