<div class="IPBDescription">explode icons</div> can anyone tell me how to open the areas where there is an explode icon?

    Sounds like you're asking about weld points. Weld points are either opened or closed (based on what the mapper created) with <a href='http://www.natural-selection.org/manual/weapons_welders.html' target='_blank'>The Welder</a>.

    Weld points are usually key areas that can limit alien movement or open a passage for the marines. Point the welder at the weld point and press "fire" (mouse 1). A white bar will begin to fill with blue squares. When the bar is full, the weld point will activate. Weld points cannot be re-welded (until the game restarts).

    And there's no way of opening weld points as an alien. And the commander can only drop welders next to an armoury (that's the tubby green building you get your ammo from), so there's no point in going to a weld spot and then asking for one <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    welll in ns_bast some weldables are broken (I won't say which due to exploitation) but if you ahve a welder, weld all! limits sneaky skulk movement 80% or so.... that is all the cover they have in early game.. 2 rines can kill 2 skulks if they don't have vents

    It's not an exploit...

    Sorry, I should have clarified. Some weldables can be broken by gorge spit, some can't. It's purely up to the particular weldable.

    Note that you shouldn't 'weld everything' in sight. Somethings the comm may want left unwelded.

    Eg, doors either side of holo on ns_hera. I hate it when people weld the controls on the ALIEN side...

    I think he means they don't work correctly. The one in the marine start can be opened when it shouldn't be.
