Transformers G1 Reissues

<div class="IPBDescription">Old hotness.</div> Rawr, recently I've taken to purchasing the Transformers G1 reissues for a few reasons

1.) I'm not a kid anymore, so I can buy all the Transformers I could never get as a kid! No more crying to my parents!
2.) As a collector. Damn I wish I had taken better care of my Transformers, have you seen that crap on Ebay? Damn man....
3.) IT'S THE ORIGINAL TRANSFORMERS TOYLINE!!!!
4.) IT'S TRANSFORMERS FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!!

So yeah, to get you guys up to date. So far there have been 5 released series, and more upcoming. So here's a list for ya. You can only get them at Toys R Us stores apparently.

Series 1 (Discontinued in US, you can still get them in Australia)
- Optimus Prime
- Rodimus Major (AKA Hot Rod, they lost the trademark. Morons. Yes I know it sucks.)
- Ultra Magnus

Series 2
- Powermaster Optimus Prime
- Starscream

Series 3
- Jazz
- Silverstreak (AKA Bluestreak, they lost the trademark. AGAIN.)
- Thundercracker

Series 4
- Prowl
- Red Alert
- Skywarp

Series 5
- Hoist
- Inferno
- Tracks

Series 6 (Unreleased)
- Grapple
- Smokescreen

Series 7 (Unconfirmed for American release)
- Soundwave


Currently I own all of Series 1 and 2, except for Powermaster Optimus Prime. I just don't like him...
Out of that entire list, the only toys I had as a kid were Optimus Prime and Tracks. NOW I CAN BUY THEM ALL!! MWHAHAHAHAHAHA~!

Australia is currently up to Series 2. I don't know whether we will continue to recieve more series (I hope to god they do) If not I shall have to import >_<

Going to buy Hoist tonight for quite a reasonable price =D

I was 5 years old when transformers were hot stuff. I never could get enough of them. Over the years they had to alter them of course because kids now are to stupid to figure out how to make a robot into a car...

hm, i have that black casette, it turns into a jaguar, and ive got a megatron, but he never converted right, so i think he is missing parts. i wish i knew about these guys 15 years ago, i woulda loved an optimus prime! (before he turned into a gorilla in the cg series)

I went out and bought Jazz. You just can't beat the original Transformers. I was a bit disapointed that he had the Japanese stickers, his name isn't Agent Meiser ****! The rocket launcher that actually shoots made up for it though. Felt really sheepish going and buying it though. Walking into Toys R Us and buying a toy, for myself, at age 20 just felt strange.

[Edit: I never owned Soundwave, but according to the cartoon, I believe the 3rd tape should be Rumble.]

I used to love Transformers..... till about 8/9 years ago (im 17... stopped watching them at an early age when we started to get repeats, and i'd watched the vids we had OVER AND OVER)

We also used to have a load of the toys, but we got rid of em about 3-5 years ago...

Probably woulda been worth a fair amount......

Bleh.. The gorilla is not Optimus Prime. He is Optimus PRIMAL. As in PRIMAL scream.
People just get lazy and forget that... He can't be optimus prime because they actually show optimus prime... and he is asleep... and the cg series were cool.. they didn't have the same effect as the originals, but they are a lot better than the newer cartoons (Robots in Disguise and Armada)..
At least the CG series tied in with the original...

I believe he was rereleased, certainly in Japan, with the slated American version being........... bright dayglo orange, like the new laserbeak. Why? Because he looks like a gun, and for ease of identification, toy guns must be bright orange, light blue, or pink.

Anyhow, because of this they wisely chose not to rerelease him in America, but you can pick up an import if you're lucky.

Soundwave rocks, my goal in life is to obtain him and the.....eeerrrrm..... 8 minicassettes.

Yeah as I said, America is so politcally correct it's not even funny. On top of that all English toys filter down the line from America, so we will NEVER see a reissued english version of Megatron.

I'm gonna investigate a little into the Japanese reissue.

Oh and for the cassette bots. I saw a MISB (Mint in Sealed Box) of Rumble and Ravage go fro $250 US..... Start praying for a reissue. (I think they will though..)

Edit: I know this is off topic but there is a transformers mod being made for BF1942 over at <a href='http://www.resemblesreality.com/TFMod/' target='_blank'>http://www.resemblesreality.com/TFMod/</a> and they are going to try to also make it for HL2 but they need coders, animators, mappers, and skinners. Looks pretty nice so far tho.

Actually, Optimus Primal DID house Optimus Primes spark at one point, but not at the beginning of the series and only for a very short time. He only housed it because Optimus Primes sleeping body had been damaged and he needed to take care of the spark while the body was repaired. Because Beast Wars takes place before the originals, on earth, after the ark crashed and before the original transformers woke up.
