'wow! For something as big as the watershow you'd think they'd put a sign up telling you when "The Watershow" is. Now where could they put something like when "The next watershow" is'

Sorry, you really caught me at a bizarre point in my life. Use the search it'll tell you much, although I haven't seen a picture of the nuke in a long, long time.

The nuke was one of those early stages of NS which they took out and NO one say "oh they should add it back in for the fun of it"

    Ahh, another almighnty nuke thread <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

So as far as i have heard about it, it was something that costed lots of res, commander was able to drop it (dont remember if it required to be built by marines) and after a while if it wasnt destroyed it was able to clear a large area.

i'm glad the nukes dead. it really screwed up the game for the aliens (much like it is for rines now). it was like we have a stable and safe defence going and all's fair on the frontline. then it's "bing.... BOOOM!!" and one of our hives and it's DCs get a major whooping cuz some rines sneaked into a nearby vent that's not even connected to us.

heh.. maybe bring it back to even things again <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

The nuke was a building tested before NS1.0 (around the time siege cannons could target players). The way it worked was that the commander would build a nuke building. From there they could place Nukes much the same way as medpacks/ammo (though very expensive). The nuke would then count down for some set amount of time (I forget how long). However the aliens could destroy the nuke if they dealt enough damage to it. If not, it would explode for some large amount of damage (2000?) and everyone's screen would go white like a flashbang.

It was taken out as it wasn't very inactive, encouraged turtling, and Flay is of the Blizzard RTS school of thought of "they shall not be an ultimate weapon that you can safely deploy from base."

Is there any way I can get hold of the copy of NS with the Nuke? I'd really like to see it.

The bind in NS1.0 for 'Nuke' was changed to the welder or something or other.......I remember it being mentioned somewhere.

That nuke sounds like one of those uber-weapons each side gets in C&C, i.e. GDI = Ion Cannon with Adv. Comm Center, NOD = Nuke with Temple of Nod.

From what i remember when i played that old C&C thingy the ION cannon was a lol, takes half hour to charge, then vzzzzzzzt....boom, "OH, I DAMAGED HIS BUILDING! WOOT".

Must of turned a blind eye to somethind I didn't know was in the game.

Even though the thought of a <b>"nuke"</b> in Natural Selection sounds just extremely bizarre, it would be something that I would like to check out for myself.

    The day will arrive.

    I'm extremely tired.

nah nah you're doing it all wrong, you have to send 4 orcas out on a suicide mission to the construction yard, and once they get there you do the ion cannon on it...

That's why I say screw the Adv. Comm center and just bust out the mammoths and bulldoze all the NOD **** into the ground! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Just a question, maybe im missing something from C&C "storyline", is there any reason why the buildings just "grow up" from the dirt without any apparent reason?

Use it against obelisks. You can almost hear the NOD player's scream of frustration when his 1500 credit building is taken out in one hit <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Mammoths? NOD missile bikes are rather nasty against them. Just keep those bikes moving and they'll never get hit, or if your enemy does manage to take down any of them they will be more than balanced by the loss of those mammoths.

EDIT: In reply to buildings appearing, if you watch the construction yard very closely, you can see what appears to be a little cube being lifted out. I believe that the storyline is that a minature construction vehicle, similar to the mobile construction yard, is produced by the construction yard, which then goes to the location and unpacks itself. Of course C&C wasn't exactly advanced enough to show all that stuff going on. However I believe that is the actual storyline reason.

Hells, if you're playing multiplayer against another GDI side, the Ion Cannon can take out a war factory in one hit. Now <i>that's</i> an annoying tactic <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

erm.. Why are we discussing C&C still?
The nuke was taken out, your question has been asked many times, in many ways, some more creative than others.

In plain 'ol C&C one direct ion cannon hit will take an advanced power plant to a sliver of health and it will burn to death unless repaired IMMEDIATLEY. Once power is out, SAMs and obelisks are down, and you can send in the APCs/ choppers full of commandos and engineers!
