I was playin TFC.. on dustbowl... I ran down into the enemy base... I stopped pressing the running key... I kept running!!! and I couldn't turn... it was like I was stuck... until I hit a wall or soemthing... I've tried buying a new keryboard to see if the keyboard was bad... it isn't...  It always works with my fire key... on the mouse.. I hit fire and I can't turn or run... I just keep firing for about 3 seconds.. then I am released...

I noticed with win98 it ran like a charm! but ever since Installed XP its started.. but only with half life

What brand of keyboard and mouse do you have? The REAL cheap ones have problems with using 2 keys at the same time.

Also, your WinXP is completely updated, as is Half-Life?

What other programs do you have running on your computer as you run HL?

What are your system specs? Processor, RAM, all that stuff.

Have you run a virus check recently? Have you checked for spyware?

Uninstall and then reinstall HL. Not that much of a problem unless you have some really obscure mod that's impossible to find and u have no space to back it up. Then check you're drivers. Also there's and article at RR.org that tells you how to tweak XP for gaming.

I'll have to dissagree with you there. everyone uses winXP at our LANs, and the only time anyone has gotten the BSOD is when they install the wrong video drivers and they are just completly bjorked anyways then.

XP is stable, and I have had similar problems like he's describing, just... it only occures when I forget to turn off trillian and someone messages me, or if I'm running kazaa, and people start leeching off of me. It SOUNDS like a memory problem- worst case: could be a virus digging around in your system, moving stuff around that HL uses... but I'm no expert so if none of these suggestions pan out, try the nuclactacular erinstall winXP...
If you've got your OS on a seperate physical HD, just completely wipe that HD and then reinstall, put your backups on your storage drive and within an hour, maybe an hour and a half you'll be back up and running without any problems.
