Lmg shooting
Well as the topics says, how do you guys/girls shoot your lmg's? this one of the reasons why i tend to play more as aliens then marines but i thought i'd ask, ive had had a few people tell me a few ways of shooting e.g. full auto-it can work but i find that it sprays a lot, burst- i use this mainly but i still find it hard to hit with. So what would you recommend is the best way for this?.

I do 5 round bursts vs. little things.

vs. fades and onos, I just full-auto. It's impossible to miss, and in the case of the fade, I stand a good chance of taking it down with a little pistol help, and 2 LMG clips kills an onos...

One important thing about shooting aliens that bite your resource tower is CROUCH , or all you hit is the resource tower !!!

I don't aim for the body when he's heading towards you , aim on his 'nose' <<<<< whit full auto.

Hose that baby when you come upon a single, solitary skulk. When you know there are more skulks in the area, hose it if you know you're going to get solid connections, but fire it in bursts if the skulk is doing dodgy evasion junk. Usually skulk players have a rhythm, you just need to catch them as they change strafing directions from left to right. Works better with pistols though. Most of the time, you should just hose it with abandon. You should keep an eye on how much you're hitting the enemy of course, since you only have 50 bullets in the clip. Fire it however gets you the most hits. Aim for the center of mass and spray away. There isn't any recoil, only a slight spread, and it's fine at mid-long to short range. At long range of course, switch to the pistol and jam the fire button.

In NS, weapons do not have any recoil. Thus burst-fire does not increase the aim. The first bullet sprays exactly the same as the last bullet.

Personally, I just lay on the fire button until my target either
    A) Dissapears
    B) Dies
    C) Exceeds my capability to turn my mouse (Ie: When they leap past you).

At all other times its just hammer down!

Depends on how much ammo I have.

250? I'll spray it like a child chasing the cat with a waterhose.

100? I only shoot if I know that I'll hit them, ie: they're running at me head-on.

The lmg, at medium ranges (in 2.0) is effectivley a laser. Treat it as such and lead the skulks a little bit and press it till they die.

This was even worse in 1.04 when it was a laser at almost all ranges.

I'm almost certain that LMG spread was not changed between versions.

I use both, when im low on ammo in my clip and I expect more than 1 enemy I shoot burst trying to conserve ammo, when there is a large group i use full auto and unload as much as I can. The problem with full auto is it makes it hard to see your target.

true, but I find that using bursts both conserves ammo in a clip of 50 (for those evading, bullet-dodging skulks), and also helps to track it a little better, (due to muzzle-flash, but this has already been addressed in 2.0)

i mainly try and use an on-off bursts when aiming at skulks/lerks...all the other classes a fat enought to point and shoot
