<div class="IPBDescription">Trying to find a BF42 mod that rocks?</div> Could it be? Is it possible? Has someone actually made a fun-sounding BF42 mod that will not lead us on the path to suckitude?

<a href='http://www.bf1982.com/' target='_blank'>BF interstate 1982 has released!</a>

It's out, go get it.

Also, if you never played the Activision 3D car-wars type game 'Interstate '76' that this is based off of, go to your bedroom, look at yourself in the mirror, and say 'You sir, are a friggin nubcaek!'

Update: And they have Deloreans. BACK---- To the FUUTUURRE!!!

This looks awesome. Even the sole thought of racing at high speeds is intriguing. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

I guess it's just a more "Realistic" Mario Kart.

I still have Interstate '76 somewhere, it was a game that had a sublime use of single-shaded polygonage.

You base this on what? The fact that both games have vehicles with wheels? I guess Nascar Heat 2003 is just a more realistic mario kart too. And so is Grand Turismo 3. And Grand Theft Auto 3.

Ugh. Spare me from teenangsters. Shoo shoo, we're trying to talk about a game here, not how much better your favorite nintendo game is.

I am DLing it now. You must have a lot of free time on your hands to be continually finding MODs and demos and posting them in the forums... Although thats a good thing. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Actually, I just check out bluesnews once or twice a day. That's really all it takes...

Gee, looks like another reason to buy BF1942 when I finally pay my computer off.

    Oh yes, and BluesNews owns.
  • GrimmGrimm Join Date: 2003-04-13 Member: 15448Members
Ooh. I will have to check this BluesNews.com then. I need more websites to check everyday, I constantly find myself checking and rechecking places like PlanetHalflife.com and ranom friend's deadjournals in the hopes that I will find something to do/read/whatever.

Ugh, Interstate '76' was an awesome game that has already reached the state of 'classic' in my mind but the second Interstate was just, well...it sucked hard. First one was gold though. That music, those hair do's, those cars. Sweet with a capital S.

Ontopic: I don't know if this mod is worth the while. It doesn't sound too good, 1982? Everything in the 80's sucked except early Metallica, Miami Vice and me.

    *more whining*

Maybe I just take a little peek.

BF1942 is only fun when you just go around wasting your teammates! <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Only if you are engineer and when they stand for a plane, drop about 50 explosive packs under him. Mwhaha.

Or practice using the bazooka on them at long range! Yeah.

So has anyone played it yet? I got home too late (had a nice date with the wife) - I'll be trying it out tonight though. Verdict? Anyone? Anyone?
  • RPG_JssmfulhudRPG_Jssmfulhud Join Date: 2002-11-02 Member: 4006Members
Yeah, I played it. And the first impression wasn't as good as expected. Although you get used to the mod soon and I enjoyed it. If the server has some good resonable players, you can even have fun with role-playing (not killing, just driving around, having bartenders, gas stops people, etc... FUN! <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> ).

The cars are great and so are the maps. Desertish Nevada style roads and bridges. The only downfalls for me are annoying players (which no game or mod can resist of course) and "slippery" tires. All the cars seem to be very unstable, so you have to be carefull when driving along some wavy road, high up in the mountains.

    Otherwise, it's pretty fun in my opinion. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Hmm... Maybe I based this on SBV's post, being the site has no Info on the Mod what so ever. And both games have Vehicles with weapons. I'm sure Nascar Heat '03, and Grand Turismo 3 have weapons.

Anyway, how big is the file? It might be worth installing BF1942 again.

    I played the mod.
It's so damn sexy!! Boost on cars, vertical boost (flyyyy), rockets, guns, cannons!
If you know how to handle a car they can't stop you.

One of my fav. maps, you get to race trough a mad racecourse, with loopings tube tunnels etc.
    Really long.

    This mod rox!!

You do that and then we all meet up in the disco in "Highway" map. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    The highway map is mad <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

But still, that race through the mad course owns all!

Ughh. Death race is to hard. When you get past the first loop. Its impossible to get past the second tunnel.

Noobs! How many people here can say they've played Interstate '76? Probably only me and MonsE, by the looks of it. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo--> I remember that game. bf1942 is a great game, but when are they going to stop requireing you to leave the cd in the drive? i dont know about you but i hate having my game cds *worth 50 DOLLARS* in the drive to play a game...im going to have to check this mod out sounds fun
    --------------------------------edit--------------

just got done playing for about 15 minutes.. so far its kinda fun but the cars REALLY need tweaked alot, they have the worst handling of any car ive ever driven, if they can fix the problems then this could be a really fun mod. of course these problems are to be expected from a mod in its first release.
