you would notice them anyways. it's not hard to see an alien running straight at you trying to bite your face off, and in the case of the onos it woulddnt really matter anyways. it's hard not to get noticed when youre an angry behemoth.

they dont really look magmaish... kinda haxy, too. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

maybe darken the brighter models to look like the onos?

something that could really help the fade's look is red-hot cracks running along it's joints/arms and lighter areas; makes it look alot more moltenish.

    [edit]res chamber looks sweet![/edit]

    yeah whut he said

also very nice job, i'll use this too!

    as for visibility, i don't believe it will make such a huge difference <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

But normally it's hard to see alien in dark places while he is biting your face off.

So IMO your models can be seen too easily at dark areas. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

if visibility is really an issue, I'll darken it and re-release it. And there are cracks all over the fade. you just cant see it in the image that well. hlmv makes the skin kinda blurry, but there is alot of detail on the fade with regards to cracks.

btw. this is my first model/model pack release, so all this critique is reall helpful. thanks guys!

well, the models dont give off a glow, so if it as in a dark area, the skin would still look dark but more of a dark yellow/orange.

fade... see the cracks? The image was brightened, that means the fade looks darker in-game.
  • CoolCookieCooksCoolCookieCooks Pretty Girl Join Date: 2003-05-18 Member: 16446Members, NS1 Playtester, Contributor, Constellation
heh if u cant see cracks there u must be a blind fool.

    <span style='color:orange'>*slaps on blind fool cap*</span>

its not so much that i can't see them its just that the fade looks odd being the only one that doesn't look molten. I'm not going to get that up close to see that it has cracks on it (they are really small anyway) so from even 6 feet away it'll seem like a normal fade basically.

well, I wanted to maintain that black color scheme from the origional fade. I didnt want the skin to look dark orange or anything. I could just widen the cracks here and there though.

Then i guess the AvP alien packs are meant to deminish your ability because they're all black? <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

Alright, Version 2 of the molten pack is up in the first post. only thing that was really changed is the new alien4 model I just updated. Hopefully you'll find it more 'molteny'

If people want to "h4x0r" they can just brighten their gamma, which many do anyway. Use the replacement if you like it, if you don't, don't. I'm gonna use the onos, but thats prolly it.

    My suggestions:
The blue on the Sensory Chamber should be black.
The thin parts on the Lerk's wings should be black.
Resource Tower should have some black on it, same with the Hive.
  • ThoraXThoraX Join Date: 2003-06-19 Member: 17519Members
sens- nah, i'm keeping the blue. makes it more liek a sensory chamber.
lerk wings- nah. the black is to be more like cooled magma... you know... its black. thats why there are cracks in the skin.
hive and res- yeah, i've been looking over hte hive and been thinking that I should have some black on there...
