Its probably that someone is using your WONid.
If they are, your basically screwed. Sorry. Otherwise, just wait a few days, it may come back.
I have a router which blocks off ALL ports... Ranging from 1 to 1 billion or so, only 80 is allowed in :x...
It's not the router, you only need 27015 if you want to host a server... <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
edit: so what happens when you open it? does it just not respond? sometimes it takes a while and you should type retry in console
How are you trying to connect to game servers? Through HLSW or another 3rd party locater? Have you tried using just the normal game menu?
1) WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU TRY TO CONNECT?? (Specifics)
2) can you browse OTHER OL video games?
and xeno, dont piggy back on threads, start a new post and give us ALL info and DETAILED!

yea, i knew i was a bit off on that <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> , anyways yea, try opening that port. the 2005 port
It use 27015, which is why if you have hlds and hl running on the same computer you have to give hl a new port to use with +port 27017 on your hl commandline
What happens when you try to connect?
Do you have a cable modem, are you SURE it is working fine.. I know someone whos cable modem was fried, and it would not let him connect to ANY multiplayer game, but he could browse the internet fine.. get your ISP to check your modem if you cant figure anything else out
Try adding this to your HL commandline +port 80
or +port 27020
or +port <insert random number>
Try the +80 first, then 27020, then random .. see if it'll work
Are you anywhere that might filter connections? Work? School?
More Info Needed.
It's only Half-Life that does it. I can play on any BF1942 server with no problems.
Windows XP
Linksys BEFSR41
ADSL
I've tried putting myself as the DMZ host but that doesn't work; there is not a problem with the router. I've also tried turning off my firewall, that doesn't work either.
You probably already know this, but for anyone else: pinging a server and being able to connect to a server are not in any way related except that they both use a network. If you cannot connect over port 27015 then pinging all day on UDP port 7 makes no difference...
Ping ability tells a lot because it means I can make a connection to the server but something is ****ed.
I'm absolutely puzzled.
For example, if I knew you were on XP I could mention that verifying the IPv6 ICFW service is off is one step.

I can see that the server is sending me packets but my computer isn't responding to them..... if it was a router problem the opposite would happen. What da fug?
You however have not posted (after several requests from us) your complete system info as required for this forum, and specified in the tech FAQ. I'm not going to add any more input until you do so.
Obviously, your router is not an issue, so it's your PC or ISP. Posting all your info and any recent history of changes will help us pinppoint your problems.
Reinstall NS.
Thats listed in one of the stickied topics (I sometimes think I'm the only one that reads them, and I have no problems)
Then post COMPLETE SYSTEM STATS
If you dont know what version of windows you have, click Start, Run, and type winver
Okay, if your having trouble try this:
Start>
Run>
type cmd
type netstat
paste the netstat results here,
If you have a linksys BEFSR41 (EtherFast Cable/DSL Router) you can try getting the Logs from the router.
Disable ALL PORT FORWARDING
Click Security in router setup
All of those should be 0's (they are on mine and it works fine)
Go down to Block Anonymous Internet Requests and choose Disable,
Click Save Changes
This will allow pings in from the servers
If it still does not work:
Make sure your computer has a STATIC IP ADDRESS (from the router)
The info that came with the router tells how to do that.
Then, Router Setup>
Applications and gaming
Fill this in:
Application Start End Protocol IP Address Enabled
HL 27000 27100 Both 192.168.1.x Yes
x is whatever your IP is
then click save changes and try again
If you Still have problems
<span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'> POST COMPLETE SYSTEM SPECS</span>
I´m on Windows 2000 Service Pack 4
