they stole MY Idea!
Well sort of, these guys made a suit that helps people walk and sit and stuff. I wanted to make one that allowed the military to mount heavy weapons on infantry soilders and allow them with hydrallics to move freely and provide support (like mounting a 30cal in one arm)

That is a most unfortunate name...

I'm going to half expect it to at somepoint say

"I'm sorry Dave, I can't do that" and somehow do nasty things to the user....

Actually, you stole Robert Heinleins idea. From around 1940. Suck it down, Generation D.

That's a slight misunderstanding that's all too common. HAL didn't go insane, he was following orders, in the order they were given.

The crew was not supposed to know of their mission, or some such, and the secrecy was his TOP priority, above even the survival of the crew. Thusly, when the secrecy was about to be removed, he did the PURE logical action, and removed the crew, thusly preserving the secrecy of the mission.

Anyway... soon, soon we shall have powered armor... so soon...

Heinlein did though. He was an engineer and officer in the US Navy. He even holds some patents (or his estate does - he's deader than Samwise's sexlife ). But the term 'waldos' comes from him, in this realm of endeavor. Not to mention the whole power-assisted armor concept of Starship troopers (which was in the 50's).

    As in, Generation [sunny]D...

As for CWAG's comment, spoken like someone who has no experience whatsoever with the US Military, and certainly not Marine Corps Infantry. But thanks for playing, hippy.

Now where were we? Oh yeah... rather than making lame power-assistance devices for old people (how about instead making some cooling devices - looking at you, France), I would like a robotic dog. A good one! Not one of those crappy techmo dogs, I mean a decent one that can play and has fur and can hump your leg at 5000 RPM.

getting away from the prawntage, and back to the subject (and hopefully very far away from 5k hpm leghumping)... i didn't see any mention of the longevity of the batteries. how long can something like that be powered, i wonder.

The human body generates more bio-electricity than a 125-watt battery and over 25,000 BTUs of body heat. Combined with a form of fusion, the machines will find all the energy they will ever need.

Umm... actually, its more: one silly rushkie with a transplant arm from one of three clone operatives > Marine Robot

And MonsiE ha a point, i mean that's the whole plot point behind the matrix... That fact being the reason the machines hadn't just simply eradicated the human race.

But one would have to wonder why they hadn't begun searching for a way to take the cloud down... but that's off topic.

Hmm... Bio-juice could indeed be an EXTREMELY viable source... but do we have the technology currently?...

Hmm... I finished "Stranger in a Strange Land" just last month. Man that's man alive that was a long book, (started LAST summer, stopped when school started, borrowed it again when school was over). It's interesting to say the least, but it wasn't a page turner for me, so it took awhile for me to finish...

Nasa had the idea for armored suits to resist gravity in the 60's (back when jupiter was thought to be a solid world with a very thick atmosphere, and the great red spot was theorised to be a giant mountain), so I guess that would qualify as power armor...

Science fiction always has a tendency to predict the future. Star trek predicted matter teleportation in the 60's and right now we're teleporting protons electrons and even beams of light.

Of course it all relies on us not blowing each other up, so in all probability the dolphin/whale alliance will take over the world in the aftermath of the Last Great War Of Humanity...
