NO, and with the interior maps, vehicles would = more useless than they are now.

well... if rampage involves lots of accidental teamkilling, then you shouldn't <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

Well, You could always do what CS did, Put a custom amount of damage per hit the vehicle does, Or do 0 so teammates can't die... Or code something so they can't anyway...
Or instantly kill the player that tk'ed, And kill him the next round, Just to try to stop it, Of course, If it's actually an accident there should be a "forgivetk" console cmd or something...

[edit] NM about what is rampage, I found another thread, And i remember the N64 version of the game... so fun(ny)
2nd rampage game was a bit too hard though... [/edit]

Vehicles were never ment for the HL engine.  It's a mericle they work at all.  And it's not exactly a valve support thing, either.  You want vehicles, you got to code them yourself, and that's alot of work.  You want them less buggy, you've got to do it yourself.  For the speed and limits of the HL engine, vehicles are for the most part impractical.

Setting the players model to the vehicle and adjusting his physics is the way to go about decent vehicles. Sure, mappers are stuck to whatever models you have, but who ever listens to mappers anyhow? <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->

Hm... when thinking about vehicles in HL engine...

What's about Gunman Chronicles? That one had a tank, which was made quite good and it was based on HL engine.
You controlled the bottom with the walk keys and the turret with the mouse. It worked well. (valve said it is impossible to do a tank in HL, till the programmers of Gunman did it).

Or am I missing some major thing?
You should check if the vehicle engine in Gunman is different than the original HL one.

If you want to do a vehicle based mod take a vehicle based game, like Renegade (- graphic engine sux) or mobile forces (- game sux at all).
