Oh ya, and I won't be adding the vent system until last since it seems like it will be the hardest part to replicate and I'll need all the main map to be done so I can connect them without any trouble.

If Devildog has no intention of developing nancy further, are you interested in creating nancy 2.0 based on this remake?

Hmm.. my only 2 problems with that picture compared to the original are...
No green glowing things. Check the old one.. it had green glowys... *nodnod*
and the blue thing is too far back.. but that doesn't matter as much.
    Lighting effects>minor architexture..

I think it'll be hard to match Nancy 100%. I think 99% is very possible, and it looks like you're working towards this. Good show.

Have any of u contacted DevilDog. It is his creation. And if he doesn't want ya to do it, offer to give him the source files so he can pick up where he left off. Either way nancy will still be remade.

yoda and you other newbs at this subject:
don't post unless you know why this is made.

The source of nancy was lost in a hd crash, nancy got doomed.
That's why they're remaking it now.

Does DD post in these forums? Has he expressed even the SLIGHTEST interest in remaking or updating Nancy?

What makes you all think he's going to work on the map just because an updated build is delivered to his inbox? Even Flayra has said it's OK if someone wants to take the base nancy setup and create a new, similar map.

I sure hope you've been making backups of the map onto disc lazer.
I dont think we would want the reincarnation to suffer the same fate as its predecessor.

From what I've heard, DD is a bit anti-social.

Yes I would. It really depends what happens though. Also, thanks for pointing out the flaws in my version. I did notice those already, but that's the kind of feedback I like to see. Actually show me what should be changed, not just "you did it wrong". Also, pointing out lighting differences is fine, but I'm not going to get into it until later when the map is coming together.

ssjyoda: if you even read the first post, you woulda known that lazer intended to give the source to DevilDog anyway.

Ignored, it seems. Doesn't anyone think this is odd? DD won't even respond to emails asking if it's ok to remake Nancy. What makes anyone think he's going to finish some updated version?

im not sure how thick you actually are but as you have forgotten what i have said i will say it again:

as i have not ever finished a map completely, i see this as an easy task as i have to work off something. The reason i didnt want you working with me because i would be stuck with the same problem that i didnt finish the map completely by myself. So how about you stop acting selfish and get on with what ver you want to do.

DD has all but left the community completely.

Yes'm that's right - as Flayra said in another thread, DD will most likely not see anything you say anyways. Since he did not specifically forbid the manufacture of this map, it can be assumed that until DD (if ever)contacts you, you have a green light.

Well the draft, since it seems you will ask the same question until you get the answer, here it is elaborated further from Lazer's first post (mind reading - don't fail me now) and from my previous post here:

It was never said that we expect DevilDog to do anything with the map after he gets it. Hoping.. well of course. Expecting... no. Lazer in fact said right at the beginning:

QUOTE

When this is all done I plan on sending the source to DevilDog so we can get this back into ns and updated if he wants it to be.

(underline added for emphasis)

The point here is not to make an updated ns_nancy happen. That's the point of the other (at least two) threads talking about nancy tributes, and the like. The point here is that DevilDog lost his work, and someone with enough knowledge and experience with the right tools decided to offer the nice gesture of trying to recreate the source for DevilDog.

The point, rephrased yet again, (and hopefully for the last time) is that this is not for the community, it is for DevilDog. If DevilDog decides to work with the map, then I'm sure many in the community will be quite happy. If he decides not to work with the map, then it was still a nice gesture. And that's the whole point of Lazer's project here. It is a kind gesture towards a mapper who lost most likely months of work.

(Sorry if I'm stealing any of your thunder in this thread Lazer... and sorry all I can do around here is paraphrase stuff - I'm no good at mapping. Best of luck though.)

Spook, you couldn't have put it better. The only thing I would like to mention is that if there is no reply from DevilDog, I'm gonna release it as the "bugfixed nancy for 2.0". Depending on how everything plays out, I'm willing to do the updates to the map if necisarry. I for one love the way it plays out. Great games are played on it. So really to sum up how this project will go:

-Nancy gets remade with the bugfixes.
-There will be an attempt to contact DevilDog and see if he wants to do anything with the map.
-If there is no reply, I plan on asking the Dev's if they would like to see a updatable nancy back in ns.
-If yes, I'll be glad to be the one to do the updates.

Again, it really depends how everything plays out. Right now I just want to see this map compatable with 2.0 and DevilDog with the ability to get the source back to his wonderful map.

Yes - the only problem is that Lazer hijacked the Nancy project. No, I will not get into a discussion about map quality or individual skill.

Plain and simple, someone else had already taken the initiative. While I don't exactly respect Lazer for his exact actions, I also do not dislike him for it. I realize that lazer is not going to stop. I also realize that even if the source is remade, DD will still never come back. For most purposes, he is as good as dead now

In conclusion - I believe this project to be a shining example of wasted opportunity - instead of improving on the map, or perhaps making a tribute, the map will remain the same. Gameplay flaws or no. IF Lazer instead put his energy towards making something refreshing, I believe the results could be truly excellent

And I hijacked it how? If this is going back to the whole Ozbirdboy project, I could argue that HE hijacked it. Look a few pages back, there was already an attempt at starting up this project, and I was one of the guys that was gonna get involved. I waited around to see if anything was gonna happen, and when I thought I saw someone actually going through with this team idea I jumped on the opertunity right away. This was only to find out that it was a personal project that doesn't have the intentions of what the people on these forums want. So I decided to try and restart the ORIGINAL nancy project, the one that I was gonna be in but everyone seemed to have vanished from shortly after.

I really don't want to argue with anyone in this thread since that is not what it is about. You want to start a debate? Make a new thread. I made this one to look for help on the project that almost died.
