A3d Is Cheating?

<div class="IPBDescription">sounds like a load of ****, no pun.</div> I've just been informed that turning on A3D is cheating. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->? how so? all it does is replicate what you would hear from a 5.1 system. or is having surround sound cheating too?
this assault on my sound-based integrity stemmed from a wonderful post about how to take down the mighty alien RT. i know, the shaking motion it makes is intimidating, but i suggested knifing it, and when you hear an alien coming, you shoot it (the alien). apparently some people can't hear the pitter patter of bare bone banging off of a metal floor, so i suggested they use A3D. and now i am told it is cheating. never heard of it.
i also have a mouse with four buttons and a wheel, so kill me. if a3d were really considered cheating i would think that CD would pick it up, or that someone would have put "s_a3d 0" into the server configs by now like it is with sv_cheats.
