here is the, in my opinion, best public strategy for marines

ip, armory, Turretfactory + 2 Turrets
Entire Team builds some RTs (turrets protect base very good in the beginning if properly placed) which are more far away from hive, for example if aliens on ns_eclipse have maint, my team will go and build triad, station access alpha and eclipse, if theyre good ill try to get powersub with electrify upgrade. 2nd ip will be built when there are more than 1 guy dead. the latest moment you should get 2nd ip is when the first fades or onoses are showing up

while building res towers, i get arms lab,weaponup1, armorup1, armory upgrade, observatory, weaponup2, prototype lab, heavy armor

while getting this stuff, i strengthen my base turret defense a bit, so there are about 8 or more turrets, to keep away those stinky <!--emo&::fade::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/fade.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='fade.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::fade::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/fade.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='fade.gif'><!--endemo--> and single <!--emo&::onos::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tiny.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tiny.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

now its time to get a bunch of turrets and maybe a phasegate at the third hive (in this example eclipse command), to prevent aliens from getting the third hive.
i start equipping all squadmembers with heavy armor, welders and a weapon, they have to defend the third hive, the res towers and base while im getting the last upgrades (motion tracking, weapon3, armor 2, armor 3)
now i get a 2nd observatory at the third hive, to prevent those **** from cloaking there and to be able to scan more often <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
those observatories are squad 4 and 5 <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
then its time to send the squad to hunt down some poorly protected res towers. ill try to <!--emo&::siege::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/siege.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='siege.gif'><!--endemo--> the hive that provides defense chambers, though its very important for aliens. aliens will lose without defense chambers. if i cannot manage to attack the hive that provides defense chambers because of huge walls of lame, ill just go for the other hive. onos without stomp is pretty useless <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
