<div class="IPBDescription">I got some questions...</div> Okay, whenever I play NS and more than 4 guys appear in my screen and/or shoot at me, my ping skyrockets to 900+ (I'm 56k, Average ping is like 350). Here are my comp. stats:
AMD Athlon 900mhz
GeForce4 Ti 4600
SoundBlaster 512mb
900mb of SDRam
40 gig hard-drive
**Running Windows XP Professional**
Okay now, I think it's my CPU. Do you think if I install windows98 or windows millenium it could fix the problem a little? I remember when I ran windows millenium (which sucks), it was probably one of the smoothest times playing HL....but at the time when I play HL, it didn't have the voice-recording added to it, which lagged me a lot.
So what should I do? (Please dont just say buy a new computer, because not everyone has spare money for that <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> )
/edit
I didn't put this in the Tech forums because although it IS NS-Related, I get this problem with like every game <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

i mean i lagged to hell but that was the 1 mb vid card lol
your setup looks fine imho.. just slow net connection i guess...
Please more people post if you think this could be a reason why I'm so laggy.... <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
Your got graphic card drivers?
I'm guessing it's your net connection. That 56k pipe just can't handle the data from four people at once.
I don't think its my connection because I've played on my friends computer (hes like 3 miles from me) and his works absolutely fine. |NOTE: He has a 1.8ghz CPU tho....
When I play LAN/Single-Player everything works great. I was just playing LAN a couple days ago with 10 people and 10 bots and nothing slowed down.
Note: my friend is [LoDw]DirtyGabbs, and look at his ping to mine....he only lives a couple miles away.
Later on an onos, 2 fades, and a skulk came into our base and my ping went to 1,300.....
NOTE: My modem is an AOpen FM56-PM.
tell us what hapens to choke and pkt loss <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
