Putting Valve Anti-Cheat Into NS 2.1: DONT PLZ. a few weeks ago it banned me till 2008 for NO REASON <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> i dont, never, or will cheat in any games i dont see why to waste 40-70 bucks on a game if you wear it out in a day :/. and also cheating death is better thats whats goin around thease days on ns/cs sevrers and i beleive its true as it dint ban me for 5 years <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->. PLZ dont put VAC in i wont be able to play ns much anymore cause most will have VAC.

    It's all good dude. Just email valve...I can't remember the email address off hand. Tell them you weren't cheating and were accidentlly banned. They know their software isn't perfect, they'll clear it up for you.

    You e-mailed GABE? why not try someone a little lower down in the ranks, like tech support. Gabe probably doesn't work at valve in the VAC dept. does he now, eh? Really. If there was something screwy happening to windows, would you call bill freaking gates? try tech support amigo. got to www.sierra.com and look around, you'll probably find someone to mail. Or the tech support number might be on the box...

    i did rebuy and put the new cd key in through the regestry and would u gues it, it dint work, link to valve tech support plz o_O i dont think sierra wil hav it on there site and besides, there gone

    Cheating Death is a superior fix for cheats, IMHO, and yet it and VAC are currently incompatible. I'd at least like the option to use both, given my preferance.

    Ok then, I'll just point this out. I dont remember WHY, but VAC constantly bans XP users. Again, I can't remember why, but there is some stupid reason.

    IF you went and bought a new copy of HL, AND you still can't change your CD key, go find the download Half-Life CD Key Changer. It does it all for you, you just enter the key. It even links you to where you can buy a new copy if you need to. I got the bundled package of halflife, so I have 4 keys I keep in there, and sometimes I have problems with that random "CD Key is in use, please try again later" crap, so I switch them out. Simple as point and click, (AND IT'S NOT WAREZ)

    Actually, HL-Amp, if you joined a VAC secure server, it would BAN you instantly for a very lengthy time, because it doesnt check for specific cheats, it just bans anything that is running 3rd party with Half-Life, so you probably had something like that, which caused you to get caught.

    You have to go into your registry and delete all entries that have the name 'Valve' and 'Half-Life' on them.

    Then you reinstall Half-Life. For some unknown reason, when you uninstall HL, it doesn't remove the CD key registry things.....or something.

    i doubt it would, the most common ban (not related to cheating) is based on memory corruption

    cant say this has happened to me, i use HLAmp and i reguarly play on VAC servers (CS)

    i heard they rolled back the modules that did this

    I always thought the permeban crap about VAC was BS. 1 month, ok. 2 months, little overdoing it, but fine. 5 years, wth?!

    Add me to the plea to not add VAC support to NS, I as well got banned for absolutely no reason from all VAC servers.

    I use Windows XP and I tried reinstalling HL, reinstalling and changing the CD-key (got one from a friend who didn't play HL anymore) AND tried to uninstall, delete registery items and change the CD-key as well as e-mailing Valve because of it, never ever got a reply (I don't remember who exactly I e-mail'ed but it was someone in control of VAC)

    Many server ops are sticking with CD, as we are at Roob's No Time For Muppets server (see sig). It's because we support the CD project which in turn supports NS. It really works and we really like it. My suggestion is not to buy another copy of HL (unless you didn't buy one in the first place, in which case shame on you).

    Valve has a track record of banning innocent players for ridiculous times of "cheating".

    I personally got banned for a year when i tried to play dod 1.0.

    CD is actually more useful than VAC,because its updated a hella lot quicker.Though there are numerous counters to CD...

    VACs anti-WH?Bypassed already.VAC's detection of cheats get nulled within days of VAC being update.Result?VAC-Proof cheats that can last months.Very useful anti-cheat..... <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Not like Cheating Death is perfect either, i can't play on any server that has CD, says my system has been modified, and I don't cheat, i even reinstalled my whole NS directory just incase if any of my configs had a cmd that CD didn't like, and it still doesn't matter, i tried everything still can't play, gg buggy CD.
