all I can say is I lub morrowind, but it's been like a year since I played it so I can't remember any concrete suggestions. read some FAQs at GameFAQs for hinties. another important thing is whether you're gaming for the role-playing aspect, or whether you want an uber-1E37 character... the world of that game really is impressive, though... maybe I'll fire it up again

/me shakes head at XBox, blech. You miss allot of the fun of morrocrack with it (no expandability options like Bloodmoon and Tribunal and area effect arrows and MOG MOD)

oh well....

nitpickers note:
It is Elder Scrolls 3: Morrocrack (not morrocrack 3)

now, as for making a sumoner:

Breton
You get some decent magic bonuses (including a +10 summoning, though nothing for destruction)
%50 resist magika is NASTY!! (walk into tombs and sorta laugh), combine this with a n enchanted item that does 50 resist also and no negative effects... EVER (this includes potions, enchantments etc)

skills:
major:
Conjuration (duh)
Destruction (if you really wana be able to toss fire balls and such)
Light Armor
Short Blade
Acrobatics ( like being bouncy)

ok, the last 4 are really just personal picks, other decent/good choices are:
Alternation (VERY FUN)
Mysticism (rather slick, specialy with telekenisys, you can steal anytihng)
Restoration (if you wana heal)
Security and sneak (if you want more thief stuff)

MINOR:
any of those 4 major skills you didn't take
mercantile
Block
Athletics

ok, star sign is hard, alot is personal pref:
I like charisma so I go with lady ALOT
you might wana try Atronach. Massive magica bonus, I tihnk you might never take spell dmg, and with summon ancesteral ghost you can suck mana from them.
Mage is sorta silly
I like the Steed but I am a bouncy and speedy little freak
Tower is a good one for an unmagical thief (for get it)
Apprentice, I don't like the Weakness to Magicka 50%

now for general notes:
1) Thiefs have it the best. You never will want for $$ or GOOD (read amazing) Equip
2) As a summoner you are gona sorta suck (summoners are not that good in this game as a for warning)
3) Levitate, watter walk, jump, feather are all GREAT spells (make as powerfull ones as you can asap, they are great for travel)
note: Feather basicaly just removes weight that you are carrying (very nice toy)

There are also a few ways of playing:
1) just go through and RolePlay (ignore GameFAQs, only use knowledge you get in game etc)
This is realy fun the first time around, but then you will know alot for your next char and you might wana go for something else:
2) Make very specific desisions and seek out specific parts of the plot/world
Decide to become a vampire, make it your goal to wipe out the Tong, Become a master mage, etc This is REALLY fun for advanced players
3) Twink Min Max
An unknown term to most non gamers (or if they do know it they don't know what it ACTUALY MEENS)
basicaly, you will take advantage of every amuzing thing and usse it all the way.
Make a Brenton with lots of alchemy. First thing go and get a specific item that gives you 50% magika resist (only one in the game). Chug potions like there was no tomorow. Use items that have bonuses and negatives, ignore the negatives with this combo.
Make a Kahjit archer who can basicaly bounce to the top of any rock and rain dewm down on all below.
This style of play is amusing when you simply wana screw around (I often destroy the world with this )

ok, GL and come back with any Qs

and I still laugh at you for your XBox version of MorroCrack

I also beat those who can't seem to CONTRIBUTE to a thread with a LARGE STICK!

Race: Breton
Make good mages, have a 50% magicka resistence which is great and fortify magicka x0.5 also good for a spellcaster. The dragon skin power isn't much to write home about but can be useful early on.
They start with the bonus to intell and willpower so hp can be low at the start but with the magika bonus and the bonus from the startsign (see later) you can put your points into end and str without losing out on magicka. The resist magicka means that when you acquire the Boots of blinding speed (An almost essential iten seeing as how traveling can be so slow and the distences you have to travel in some of the main quests are far too long) you can still see (yay!) which is a big help.

Starsign: The Atronach.
With this starsign you get an additional fortify magicka x2.0 in addition to the Breton's natural bonus. Also you get a 50% spell absorbsion constent effect, meaning you take no damage from spell 1/2 the time. This is essential because with this sign you get the down side of not regening magicka while you sleep so it must be regained by absorbing spells cast at you.

Major skills:
Conjuration: Lets you summon items and monsters and with it as a main spell you get summon ancesteral ghost at the start allowing you to cast this and recharge your magicka off him.
Destuction: for elemental magic attacks
The rest are up to you really. But Short Blade and Light armour if you are going to use them and security as well for the lock picking.

Minor skills:
This is really up to you, but with the huge magicka bonus you'll get, adding some of the other magic schools here wouldn't hurt if you plan to use them. (Enchant is good if you plan to use Soul Gems and recharge magic items). Other than that it depends on how you want to play the character, most of the skills are self explanatory.

Be a theif like me

U can still get high level weapons like short sword and bow and arrow, cross bow etc u can also still get very high other weapons too. Short sword is my "primary skill weapon" however I have level 90 with long sword.

Plus with some practice u can steal everything thus saving u lots of money, just remember to quick save before going for the big things or u might get your arse thrashed afterwards.

5 Finger discount baby. I have my own place in Caldura stuffed with thousands dollars worth of stuff. U dont need to be the greatest in magic just increase your mana pool thingy (blue bar) from time to time and steal lots of chanted items such as health rings, belts, etc.

As far as spell casting I suck

But by stealing I have so many health rings, potions, magic shields, magic rings that shoot fire, lighting, magic armour etc i really dont need "real magic"

PS. if you get the boots of blinding spped you need to get them inchanted to over come the blindness you will have when you were them, other wise you will have to run super fast with your map on.

ALso get the Sword of white woe in the nE guard tower on top of the cabnet in Balmora.
Steal lots of books and trade them in for lots of money too.

yep i know about the blinding boots of speed. sigh yes the xbox version will suck, but my computer can't simply handle it so i'll miss out on all the mods.
Thx so far anyway for the help, summoners suck until they get golden saints but till then the sword and armour will help alot.
I already have a thief/sword player

since you have a PC I strongly suggest you get it for the PC.
Best to have a DirectX 9 compliant vid card tho.

With PC you can extend the game with custom mods etc if you wish, whereas on console once you're done with the game you're done. That may change in the future, but who cares.

New Xbox version does come with both expansions I believe; it should also have less bugs. But PC platform will have a superior FPS control system and great modding.

If you mean the Saviours hide cuirass, yeah. It's got 60% though I think not 50%, not that it makes much difference. You can get the Necro amulet too for another 25 Points of spell absorbtion so with that and if you enchant something with another 25pts you're practically invincable as far as magic goes. Then if you get yourself Marara's Ring with it's 40% resist normal weapons on that and the 25% from the necro's it's hard to die.

I don't recommend this as you can get those points by running/jumping around

major: I say get enchant instead of destruction.

The previous Elder Scrolls games (Daggerfall and Arena, from what i remember) are in 3d yeah, Daggerfall is a great game if you can tollerate the extremely dated graphics engine.

And Morrowind is Elder Scrolls 3, not Morrowind 3.

As for the char suggests... Who knows, not my area, i'm a thief / assassin.

EDIT:
I don't think i'd be able to play the Xbox version, i can't live without plugins. All my armour (now), my hair and my face are all plugins, my sword is the only thing that isn't.

Just pick whatever you want. Your race really makes very little difference, in the end. If you want a Khajiti summoner who wears heavy armour, uses spears and can pick locks - go right ahead.

I will make a few generalised suggestions, though:
*If you only want one weapon skill and don't really care which, pick long blades. They're the most widespread, versatile, and effective.
*If you're going to be an alchemist, buy your ingredients rather than look for them. The components of healing and fatigue potions are readily available from merchants, who restock. It beats moving to the Grazelands and manually harvesting the whole lot of wickwheat.
*I strongly recommend a magicka regeneration plugin, if you want the magicka to be able to cast more than two or three spells before needing to sleep. Mages really got shafted in Morrowind.
*If you're making a combat class, put athletics as a major skill. Trust me
*There are better skills to spend your points on than armourer and enhant, since you can purchase these services. Ultimately, you will have the money to purchase these services whenever you need them.
*You don't realy need more than one weapon skill, other than maybe Marksman in addition to your melee weapon. If you want to make a dedicated warrior, and you want a few skills in for good measure, that's fine. But there's very little reason to carry more than one weapon except for RPing.
*You don't have to have just one character. I've got... six or seven.

...
