Personally though, I prefer to play the game a bit darker (ie. not full-bright), and I find it damn hard to see anything at all. Ironically enough, for Kharaa I find the hive-rooms be the hardest to defend, since I can't see ****. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> You might want to read the mapping guidelines. Forlorn, sorry, MT has always been a waste of res. You have ears, you dont need to waste tons of money on MT. It is more useful in 2.0(to counter silence ONLY), but it is still not worth it for the cost.

In stead of saying "It is useless" how about saying "I don't have a need for it", since that is closer to the truth. It is *obvious* that it is useful and *most* Marines think it's a great tool. Claiming it is useless hardly furthers an intelligent debate.

But this is from a pub perspective.
Probably the more effecient thing to do back in 1.04 is tech up big but also use scanner sweep to find out where the aliens were expanding or the location of the gorges.
In 2.0, even when they get silence, MT really isn't a good tool still because by the time you get MT, it won't be long untill they will be going fade and the skulks will start to go for celerity/cara if their second hive is up. In fact, I'd say that by the time you get MT(unless you rush it, which just seems kind of odd to me) it will be around 3-5 min of having the MT advantage over aliens, which is really not worth it compared to getting lv. 1 armor and lv. 1 weapons which will give an infinate advantage.
I still think in 1.04 MT was still more practical (esp. more practical) and useful than in 2.0.

It is useless. The overall complete potential of MT isn't anywhere close to lv. 1 armor and lv. 1 weapons. Or 4 shotguns, which is enough to rush a hive by surprise and kill it in 35 shots by having all the marines empty their clips into the hive. Why get something that is less effective? It's like choosing between the old HMG and the GL. The GL was practically useless untill the HMG was nerfed.
Id say if it were still on the comm map it would be hands down one of the most useful tools in the game. As fun as sound scanning is 100% of the time I really cba.
