As for NSRadio, use Winamp2 as it is much better imo and actually works <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> IP here: <a href='http://nsradio.net/listen.pls' target='_blank'>http://nsradio.net/listen.pls</a>
Would it be an exploit if a marine but Beethoven's 5th as the background music?
Think of it.
Going down a dark corridor, you hear a skulk, the music changes and...
Dum de dum de DUM De dum...

the NS music is not made by the NS team. It is ripped from a 1990s Magicsomething game. I'll go find the name if someone's interested.
No offence to the NS team! The game's great!
Anti-cheat (Valve included,) programs work by looking at what data you are sending to the sever. Why the music playing on your PC is considered a hack is beyond me.
Oh yeah, it does though. I'm not disagreing; it's happened to me too. It's quite funny:
Funky music kicks in...
WARNING! BlueNovember is CHEATING!
...
Hmm. Yeah. Thanx...
hlamp does that I believe
So why does it only say 'CHEAT CHEAT CHEAT' when you start using HL Amp?!?!?
But thanx for the info.
Hang on, upgrades/patches mod the exe too...?

Because VAC also checks to see if anything is "hooked into" the half-life client while it runs (most cheats do this to be able to modify the network data). HLAmp needs to display data on the clients screen, and the only way to do that is to hook into the client process. Currently there's no way for VAC to tell the difference between a cheat hooking in and an innocent program.
I suppose it could look at the exact data and have a signature list (like a/v scanners,) but that would take time.
BTW, how the [profanity] do you know that?? Impressive. I'll stick to being Ns only xpert. But wow. That is deep stuff.
'hooking in'? Hmm. Questionable use of terminology. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

The only reason I know that is because I write the HideDeaths and FactoryLimit plugins (currently not seeing much use). All the metamod/amx/adminmod plugins do the "hooking in" because it's the only way to alter the network data. The only difference is that they do it server-side and are therefore not picked up by VAC. This diagram probably explains it better than I can:
<!--c1--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>CODE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='CODE'><!--ec1-->Client: Engine <--> Client
^
|
Network

v
Server: Engine <--> Metamod <--> Game<!--c2--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--ec2-->
This problem (all client-side hooks being detected) is why early version of Cheating-Death would get people banned from VAC servers: CD hooks into the client process in an attempt to render cheats less useful in the exact same way cheats hooked in. Once people noticed this was happening they added a check to prevent you connecting to a VAC server if CD was loaded.
Checked their site recently?
www.hlamp.com
I have played with HLamp 1 month now
after they removed it as a cheat in VAC.
Edit: If you read that and mis-inerpret it you should grow up.
