Is My Monitor Going To Explode?
<div class="IPBDescription">Flickerings and such</div> Recently, I've been seeing occasional rapid shakings around the edge of my screen. The sides will vibrate for a second or two into the usually black area surrounding the screen, and then go still again. It's been happening for about a month now, and I figured it was a twitch in my eye or something, cause I get those sometime. But tonight, I noticed big black flickers across the main portion of the screen that looked like those crackles across the screen in the movie theater.
So I was wondering, does this mean my monitor, now several years old, is going to do something crazy tomorrow, like die and not go on again? Or is it just a sign of an old monitor and it's nothing to worry about? Does it have anything to do with my old graphics card maybe? Maybe my monitor can't support 1024x768 res (not likely I don't think)?
Any information / suggestions appreciated.

well i dont know, but a screen flickers when you degauss it - so if your screen have some sort of auto degauss maybe its that
Deguass = demagnetize, ex. if you hold a magnet to your comp, rainbowish colors will appear - Demagnetize will get 'em away
stupid thing...
My aunt's monitor shrunk down to it's minimum size (about an inch by an inch) and couldn't be set back to full size...that was back in the day of 12 inch monitors.
However, this really doesn't addresss your current monitor problem, because I have no idea what's wrong with your monitor.
Listening to: 99 Luftballoons, by Nena
...the 1984 version, not the new one, but they're both pretty good.

never hold a magnet to a monitor...even though it has degauss its for natural earth magnetism, so degauss may not work for something as extreme as that... your video card maybe going, ive heard of that happening to them when there about to go...could be your monitor... could be different refresh rate unless you didnt change it...could be many things.

i know, don't worry we did it to the Schools comps not ours XD
and well you can deguass in succesion to take out the really bad ones...
My old one did this A LOT for a long time.
The best solution is to let the monitor rest for a LONG time. Like a month. Then you can use it again, good as new.
