<div class="IPBDescription">A sort of a mild rant</div>right, www.gateway.com will let you log in with yer registration number on the side of the PC. it will then tell you everything that came with your PC. right now it says my pc is a PIII 600MHz. My DxDiag (go to run, type dxdiag) is running right now. what does it say? PIII 500MHz. Now someonebody is lying. There are three possiblities: Some genious in my household decided to "upgrade" from a 600MHz to a 500MHz, gateway sent me something worse then what i paid for, or DxDiag is lying. hrrm. seems a certain company is doing some explaining tommorow. alot of explaining. grr.

The best way to do it would be to find a small company in your area that builds PC's. If they've been around a while, go talk to them, as them what they would recommend for a system, and get them to put it together for you. You will get all the details about what goes into the system, and won't get boned. You'll get better customer service, too.
If you have the knowledge, it's even better to put the parts together yourself. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
Reboot your computer. Watch the screen carefully. It will say domething like: "Push <DEL> to enter setup." Push DEL. That should take you to your BIOS.
You can muck around in there all you like. I don't think that is the problem though. If your CPU was running at an improper speed, your PC wouldn't be able to boot.
